Now you can't have the exact same game and new gameplay elements because they are contridicting things. Personally, I cannot think of ANY game sequel that was actually BETTER than the original. The originals will always be the best because of the sole fact that it's the original and it's what people got hooked onto. You change one thing from the original and it's just not the same game in peoples eyes. Thats primarily the reason as to why people think that Halo 1 is far better than Halo 2 and Halo 3.

I agree with you, besides the beginning bit. I personally think you'll get people hating sequels no matter. Because group A wants the game like an updated resistance 1. And group B who wants the game to go in a different direction while still maintaining its story/elements.

I was a huge fan of the first, thought the most gameplay elements were flawless so I really didnt want them to go into a new direction. So you can easily put me in with group A.

It just feels to me like Insomniac broke the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" rule. So many things about Resistance 1 were damn near flawless, but they changed absolutely everything, in many cases for the worse. I think Lupin hit the nail on the head with the "COD4 Makeover" assessment. This game didn't need a makeover like that, especially the online portion. It was great the way it was, why change everything?

Don't get me wrong, Resistance 2 is still great...well maybe not great but good...but still nowhere near R1.

I think we're the only ones that think this way unfortantly. But hey, they can always redeem theirselves to us in the third game
