Disc may be dirty or damaged Message??? |
|
Has anyone else had a problem with NCAA Football 2003 NOT reading the disc? If so then an error message should pop up after it tries loading the game stating that "the Disc may be dirty or damaged"! I already took one copy back and exchanged it for a brand new game only to come home and find out that it did the same thing. However, I simply erased my NCAA memory in the XBOX (which sucked since I was halfway through a Dynasty season and had edited all of the players names on my favorite team) and it worked like new! So, apparantley the error occurs while trying to save in the game and kinks up the hard drive.
Just wondered if anyone else was or has had this same problem???

I bought a copy, and when I would play it, every 3 games or so, it would freeze in the 4th quarter with about 1min. left. Talk about pissed. So I returned it for a next copy, and it did the exact same thing, it seems more than the first one. I wrote ea sports, they told me to erase everything from the hard drive because it is corrupted. I haven't done so, because I wasn't buying it, plus I am in the middle of a season. I make sure that I clean the disc before playing it, so far it is working, do you think that deleting all the material would help if I have the same problem again?

Dread - it is true about the corruption of the files...you will have to wipe out all NCAA Football 2003 files for it to work properly again...one of your saves didn't save properly thus the errors

Same thing happened to me. I began to play a dynasty game and while it was loading it froze. All the files got corrupted and I had to erase all the files. I had every roster inputted for the Big 12 too. Upset me like bad. It couldn't have been a corrupt save that caused it because I had not saved anything and the file began to play. It just froze while I tried to play my third game of my dynasty.

I did all of the deleting of files that can be done, and I am still having the same problems. It freezes still in the 4th quarter with less than a minute left to play. I am currently on my third copy of the game, and it is still freezing. I'm fed up, I have to just keep on starting the games over and over.

Just wanted to let everyone out there know that the same thing happened to me with the freezing of the game. When I called EA Sports, they said to make sure if you have a DVD playback kit, that the "seeing eye" is unplugged before you put the game in the console. It tries to read the data from the game and the DVD at the same time, corrupting the files. I did this, and I have never had a problem since!

Okay I did what Ryan S. said, about taking the eye out. It worked for a season. I played one whole season without it freezing on me. However, whe I started another season, during my second game, it did the whole freezing thing again, in the 4th quarter, seconds left. I'm fed up. Anymore suggestion?

i dont want to upset anyone but the problem is quite simple.
if it pops up with the message disc may be dirty or damaged im afraid to say you have to send you xbox in for service. its nothing to do with the erasing of memory although that will help for a short amount of time. basically the hardrive is corrupted and theres nothing you can do but send it in for service. not that those pigs at microsoft will fix it. is sent it away and it came back with the same problem.im in australia but maybe the customer spport is better in the states. good luck if you have this problem because youll need it.

re: Disc may be dirty or damaged Message??? |

I have a question about NCAA 2003 for Xbox. I got the game about two weeks ago and it has already stop working. The only time I handle it is when I put it in and take it out. I haven't dropped it or mishandled it at all. I also made one other observation. When I looked at the bottom of the disc I noticed that is white-bottomed. And then I looked at all of the bottoms of my other eight xbox games (which all work correctly) which most of them I have had for about one year and they all have goldish colored bottoms. I am wondering if there's something wrong with the white bottomed discs for Xbox like there's a problem with the blue-bottomed discs for Playstation 2. Also, I am wondering if I can fix it with some of the same techniques that you can fix the blue-bottomed discs for Playstation 2, like the scotch tape trick and blowing condensed air pressure in to the tray of the Xbox. Please respond. This is my favorite game for Xbox and I want to play it really bad.,
Thanks again, | |

I am experiencing this issue and I just bought Xbox. What was the final resolution? Do I really need to send my Xbox in for service or can I just wipe out my hard drive (which sucks)

I had the same problem with the "Disc may be dirty or damaged Message". I call a XBOX hotline and they told me that it was a hit and miss with trying to purchase a different game. They said the only way to play the game after I received the message was to erase the hard drive memory. I purchased a memory card and save my dyansty to the card and have not had a problem since. Good Luck!

I have gotten this message once and sometimes the game would lick up. What I noticed is that the game would lock up if there was a "grinding" noise when the game disk spun as it was being read.
I ejected the game out and "reset" the disc in the tray, when the disc spins with minimal or no noise there are no problems. I am now on my 4 season in dynasty mode on my second dynasty and I have not had a problem since year 2 of my first dynasty. Hope this helps.
