Nope. Definitely not Charlie. Although I think he was raised by him. I think Abel was either a programmed cyborg by Shadaloo (like Seth- who called him 'imperfect') or maybe he was a modified human who was turned into a cyborg. Capcom has left plenty of gaps in SF IV, and I hope the next game fills them.
This character is pretty much a one big mystery in my opinion.

Guile would've recognized him.
Charlie is for all intents and purpouses, dead. You can always consider him dead as Gouken and Gen are, though. For what I understand, Abel was one of the guys experienced on to create those Seth models thingies. If you notice, both Seth and Abel have the same face and Abel will get his eyes as black as Seth's when he performs his ultra combo. ------------------- ![]()

You mean experimented? Yeah, I think he's really human who was experimented on like the others shown in Rose's ending.
Capcom and their cliffhangers.

experienced? rofl! XD
Yeah! The worst cliffhanger is balrog's ending... is he a pedo? By the way, I think that kid is one of those seth thingies or maybe something entirely new and powerful setting up for SFV. ------------------- ![]()

Yeah, that's what I thought. He'll likely play a role in the next game and possibly have strong ties with Abel (who seems to play a very crucial part to the game's plot).
lol'd at Balrog though. His ending was pretty awkward haha.

Wtf is the story for SF4 anyways? Those horrible anime cutscenes hardly tell you anything. All I got was that Bison was recreated after getting hit by Akuma's Shun goku satsu, Seth was created in his place and held a tournament and Gouken was "sleeping".

Capcom have always filled the Street Fighter games with loop-holes. This one seems to be more so than the others. I don't even think there is a cutscene that exceeds 10 seconds in this game.
Speaking of Bison, until now we don't even know what he really is. >__<

Abel doesn't remember his past, so that storyline can go ANYWHERE.
But since we know more about him, he is a Seth Clone. Charlie is dead, he sacrificed his life to kill Bison, but before Bison went brain dead he went into Rose's body and stayed there. Abel and Seth have the same exact face. ------------------- ![]()

Charlie is not really dead. He still could have survived. It's probable they'll find some way to bring him back.
And Seth himself is a clone. He's just unique from the other clones according to himself. It's no secret he and Abel have some connection. For now, not much is known about Abel and sure looks like Capcom intended it to be that way. If anything, the next anime might have something more about him and the other 4 new characters.

Yeah, I meant like is human or what? Pretty confusing figure.
quote Anton HerreraHe is persumed dead. Meaning his death is not confirmed. He may be listed as K.I.A but he still could have survived. And I agree, Seth and Abel do have a connection.

According to the UDON continuity, the real one I follow since it seems the most... stable, Charlie was brainwashed in a shadaloo agent and attacked Guile and Chun Li. Somehow, Guile was able to get into Charlie's mind and break the psycho-power connection with Bison. Bison, after checking it out, found it extremely interesting and the S.O.B was actually bored and decided to go fight them himself. Showing his godlike powers to avoid his three foes, Charlie eventually decided to do his most powerful Flashkick, destroying the edge of the cliff where both him and Bison were and Bison couldn't avoid falling as well to his death. However, unlike Bison, Charlie doesn't have new bodies to return to so, if Bison with his whole Psycho Power was not able to survive, I doubt a simple human could.
Bison's power theories are many however, the most conclusive seem to be the one of him deciding to get rid of all of his good intentions which formed into the Soul Power in the italian woman, Rose. Bison was left alone with what was left, his immense psycho-power (freed from the handicapping Soul Power) that gives him many abilities. Mostly, he just transfers his powers into machines like brainwashing devices and clones in order to assure his resurrections. He was supposed to have been destroyed by Akuma's Shun goku satsu since it was supposed to destroy his very soul thus, not allowing him to return to another human shell. Part of his soul however, survived and was transfered to another body but, as hinted many times, he is not as powerful as he used to be. If you notice something, he had a more varied moveset in the alpha series (when he was in his full power) including the ability to concentrate his psycho power in an immense dark energy ball he would throw at his opponents not to mention in the animation of Street Fighter II (where it features the Violent Ken), Bison is pretty much untouchable! I really believe him to be the most powerful villain in SF pretty much near Akuma and followed by Gen. You can say that Akuma beat Bison but I say that all I saw was an opportunist Akuma attacking a tired fighter and finishing him off which was very coward like. Although Bison has a whole organization behind him, he is not one of those villain who spends his whole life sitting on a chair monitoring everything. He even admits to have a fighting spirit and wants to actually fight alone as proved when he decided to face Guile, Li and Charlie Nash all alone without using his dolls (brainwashed women like how Cammy used to be). I think that is very cool for a villain. ------------------- ![]()
