(Release Date Articles) Fatal Frame IV is coming to the US ... "Hopefully Sometime Soon"
|
Original post - 7/23/2008:
quote Nintendo have never heard of Fatal Frame IV ... Even though they're publishing it! During my interview with Denise Kaigler, I did manage to slip in a few traditional questions. One of my inquiries related to Fatal Frame IV for the Wii. I wanted to know why we didnt hear about it at the conference, and why it wasnt on the show floor, or in Nintendos meeting room. I was a bit surprised to find out that no one during my meeting had even heard of the game. They werent familiar with the title at all. I thought for sure they would know the game I was talking about, considering Nintendo is publishing the title in Japan! I have no idea what this response means for the future of the series in the states, but I am sure the game will see a launch here at some point. gamegrep article

It appears Nintendo have no plans on an American release date at present, and rather confusingly mention that they might have plans on developing/publishing the game in future (despite the game being a third-party title that has already been developed by Tecmo). While Nintendo's reply was most likely an automatically generated email, it's a shame that Nintendo of America still hasn't any plans for a release in America yet, despite the game having been out in Japan for almost a month now. quote"Hello, I can appreciate your interest in Fatal Frame. However, at this time, a Fatal Frame IV game has not been announced for release in North America. If Nintendo decides to develop and publish this game, the news will be posted in our website's "What's New" section (www.nintendo.com/whatsnew). Be sure to check here often for all the latest information and announcements. Once a game has been officially announced, our website's Game Guide feature ( http://www.nintendo.com/games/guide) represents the best place to find the most accurate release dates. Once there, use the questions on the left column to narrow your search based on system. You may also filter your search based on genre, online play, etc. Click on the title of any game to be taken to that game's web page. Remember, any posted release dates are estimates and subject to change. As a product's estimated release date approaches, you may wish to check with your local retailers to see when it may be available in your area. Sincerely, Raymond Chan Nintendo of America Inc." gamegrep article *sigh* Still no American release date. - -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -Update - 10/4/2008:quote Reggie reveals Nintendo of America NOT publising Fatal Frame IV?In a recent interview with Sean O'Neill of Kombo, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime, answered questions regarding the status of Nintendo's upcoming horror title Fatal Frame IV. Is it going to get an American release date? Reggie responded with: "you're going to have to contact the publisher for questions on that." Which is odd, since Tecmo (the developers of the title) seem to think Nintendo are the publishers. To add to the confusion, Nintendo of Japan published the title in Japan. So who is in charge of publishing in America? You would think that they would have these sort of things worked out by now. quoteWhen pressed by Sean O'Neill about the title (Fatal Frame IV), Reggie just shrugged his shoulders and said "not my problem."
Actually, no, that's not exactly true. Be funny if it was, but it's not. But it's not terribly far off, either, as Reggie told Sean with a smirk that "you're going to have to contact the publisher for questions on that." gamegrep article - -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -Update - 11/2/2008:quote Nintendo Announces Upcoming 2009 Releases ... Still No Fatal Frame IV! Nintendo ha srecently announced the release dates for many of tehir upcoming late-2008/early-2009 titles. It's a huge list, naming 50+ games that are yet to be released. Though many Wii owners will notice that Fatal Frame IV is yet again missing, and Disaster: Day of Crisis has no American release date. No surprises there - It seems Nintendo of America is trying it's best to ignore these two highly-anticipated titles. full list here Words cannot describe how much this news annoys me - -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -Update - 11/29/2008:quoteFatal Frame IV is coming to the US ... "Hopefully Sometime Soon" In a recent interview with Gamecyte, US publisher XSeed asked gamers to email them if they wanted to see a certain game localized in the US. Andrew of Gamespot jumped on the offer and asked when Fatal Frame IV will make it to the states. While XSeed are not publishing the game, they confirmed that it is coming to the US. Here's hoping they're right! gamegrep article Finally, some good news! This message was edited by Gothic Girl on Nov 28 2008.

I honestly don't believe this will come to the U.S. anytime soon or anywhere outside Japan after reading that. I wonder if the other 3 games were like this?
Anyway this game comes out in a little over a week. I'm really curious on how well it sells on the 1st day as well as that 1st week.
Sorry Gothic Girl. Please don't start with the *bleep* Nintendo comments. XD
Edit: Wow, This forum is rediculously dead.

Like bbb said in the GameGrep article, Nintendo of America is NOT the same thing as Nintendo of Japan.
NoJ is publishing the game, not NoA. So of course some random NoA employee, (who probably doesn't even play hardcore games like Fatal Frame), won't know about the series. Alot of people didn't even know about the series until it switched to Wii, so how would some random 35-year old business man, who works in the NoA office, know about the title?

To be quite frank, this doesn't surprise me one bit.
The FF series in general isn't what I would call a 'Hard-core game' in America. A hardcore game in this country is where you find yourself in a situation where you barely have enough time to reload your gun before you find more holes in your head than a block of swiss cheese. I don't think the Wii will make Fatal Frame anything more than 'another horror title' when it gets here, which brings me to this next point; Fatal Frame is too scary for the kids and the story could confuse any Halo and Madden fanboy within seconds. This being said, I though Sony and Project Zero had a beautiful friendship due to the Playstation's vast variety of gamers. You have the FPS people, the platformers, the sports junkies and then the survival horror kids. Nintendo of America has never heard of this franchise, since the game itself has never made much of an impact in the gaming community (And believe me, it hurts me to say that...)They're most likely too busy playing Mario Cart and watching the new hott interns try out the yoga on 'Wii Fit'.
We'll see how they react when it gets here....

Stop *bleep*ing concentrating on Wii Music and give us *bleep*ing Fatal Frame already!
Excuse my vulgarity, but it just pisses me off.

This might have been a new addition on the site's part since the last post here... but the main page of this site for this game says it should be released in the 4th quarter of this year...

I'm guessing that's a rumor for now. I just added an article that talks about Nintendo's official release-date list (for their late 2008/early 2009 games) to the first post ... and Fatal Frame isn't on it.

I hope that they figure out what the heck they are doing soon! When I found out that Fatal Frame 4 was coming out on the Wii is when I officially decided to buy the system--which isn't easy with money now a days. But I would so try and get this game if they would just come out with it-please please let them bring it soon ;-;!
