re: the What if..... Thread!!

I guess Ujizane Imagawa would be head of the Imagawa if Yoshimoto weren't around, so Okehazama could still happen, and I think the result would be the same if it did, i.e. the Oda absolutley pwn their asses

What if Hideyoshi Hashiba was never born?

re: the What if..... Thread!!

Thats actually really interesting. Nobunaga might have ruled Japan. Mitsuhide assassinated him yes, but historians believe that the competition between Mitsuhide and Hideyoshi was one of the factors. so if he wasnt born... mitsuhide might have been loyal. Ieyasu would have been crushed because Nobunaga had way more men then him so Nobunaga would have become shogun if Hideyoshi was not born i think.

What if The christians that came to Japan converted everyone in japan to christianity?

re: the What if..... Thread!!

Man, Kenshin would have been pissed! If the Christians left and didn't interfere with the land's politics, I don't think there would have been that much of a difference. The Ikko-ikki sect and Kennyo Honganji might have been more active trying to keep their faith alive, but that's about it I think.

What if the Mongols invaded Japan in 1560 (the year of Okehazama), like Kublai Khan a few hundred years before?

re: the What if..... Thread!!

Well Personally the mongols never really amounted to anything after Ghengis and Kublai. They might have been able to harry the Japanese but not enough to do anything major. But maybe since the largest army in existance up to that point was engaged and being destroyed, i dont know. interesting....

What if China didnt close down trade with japan, thus the christians were no longer needed?

It looks as though no one really wants to try n answer that, so I'll give it a go.

Christians would probably have been shooed out of the country, brief answer I know but someone had to try.

hahaha thanks for answering that. lol no one wanted to.

I think Cao Cao would have definately conquered that part of the land, and might have utilizd or bribed the forces down there in a pincer with Shu.

What If Nobunaga's brother was just as ruthless and cunning as he was?

Then, even after the Incident of Honnoji, he would have continued the Oda reign and eventually, would have conquered Japan, like he was suppose to.

re: the What if..... Thread!!

Depends whether your goin by ROTK or actual history. Although ROTK states Liu Bei had more troops, he actually had less than Wu. The only reason Wu had to rely on Lu Xun was because of the ferocity the Shu troops were fighting with. If his fire attack had failed, he probably would have more plans, but Liu Bei might have realised there was an accomplished strategist among their ranks and thought twice about charging straight in again.
Longer than I thought it would be.

That would leave the Takeda weak and fragile on an earlier stage of history. Mikhatagahara may not have happened as it did. And the bloodbath and Nagashino would most likely not have happened at all (even though Shingen was dead at that time regardless).
The Tokugawa would probably defeat the Takeda at Mikhatagahara.

What if the Möri and Kobayakama didn't defect to the forces of Ieyasu during the final major battle of Sekhigahara! What if Mitsunari won!

What if the Western Army defeated the Eastern Army at Seikagahara(and not the opposite)? That would change all of the history after that battle.

That answer is on page five.

what if Masamune hadn't lost his eye to the pox, thus never was called "the one eyed dragon"?

Then I doubt that a lot would change, tbh.

What if Ieyasu was unable to escape from Mikatagahara?

re: the What if..... Thread!!

He woulda been killed by the Takeda. And the entire Tokugawa army woulda been eliminated. Nagashino would not have been far as sever and the Takeda would might have won the battle. Thus the Oda was greatly reduced and the mighty Takeda army could've turned much stronger. Mitsuhide would probably never attack Nobunaga at Honnoji, but rather just leave him. Hideyoshi would not have enough forces for his western charge which happened at the same time as Honnoji. The Odas western force would probably loose against the Uesugi as the Takeda clan also once owned parts of the field where the eastern battle was. The Takeda would have attacked the Oda aswell, and most likely made an alliance with the Uesugi. The Oda would've been crushed and so would the later Toyotomi army. Thus another army would've sieged Japan. The Hojo, Uesugi, Takeda and remnants of the Anti-Nobunaga army would've done so.

Oh sorry.

What would happen if Nouhime followed her fathers words and killed Nobunaga right after the battle of Okehazama. (before the siege of Inabayama).

Hideyoshi might have made a move on her .but in all seriousness the Oda retainers would have killed her and all her family, probably.

What if Oichi remained with Nagamasa at Odani castle instead of returning to Nobunaga?

re: the What if..... Thread!!

I'd predict that. Many officers would have thought Nobunaga was crazy that he would take a chance at killing his own blood. Many would have left. Nagamasa would have a morale boost having his wife their. Helping him defeat Nobunaga. Later moving in with the Asakura and allies quite possibly killing Nobunaga or just making him an outlaw and keeping him under close observation. Later on the Tokugawa would attempt a rescue of him with former Oda retainers. Possibly defeating them retaking Nobunaga who inturn would kill Nagamasa. Causing Oichi to die out of heart break and losing the will to live. Katsuie would then probaly marry some ugly chick. Mitsuhide might have rebelled sooner but due to the help from Tokugawa might have been able to repel his rebellion causing Nobunaga to live longer but dieing sooner. Causing Hideyoshi and Ieyasu to fight over the land. Leaving it war torn and a hopeless life.

What if Guan Yu would have been caught by Xiahou Dun on his escape.

re: the What if..... Thread!!

Hmmmm.... personally i think that If Dun had caught Guan Yu, he would have killed him. Xiahou didn't like him to begin with but when he left, that really pissed him off. Thus, Liu Bei would have attacked Wei Head on instead of Wu. Wei had a larger force so i think all of Shu would have died.

What if There was friendly fire at the battle of Nagashino?
