The only way to make this question fair is by asking if Gears 3 will outsell Halo 3, which tbh all depends on the success of Gears 2.

I'm still not sure. Halo was different to Gears, Halo came at a time when there wasn't really anything else on the Xbox, and it made a name for itself amongst the gamers.

The Halo series is so overhyped because the original game was one of the FIRST games to make a splash in terms of online-console gaming. It was revolutionary in that regard, and attracted A LOT of fans due to it.

Gears may (and is) be a better shooter experience, but it doesn't have the same fanbase.

the campaign has lots of little easter eggs and is much nicer coloured than the dull grey of gears of war, the storyline to gears sucked.
I didnt rate this game at all, I sold it after completeing it.

im not trying to defend halo 3 because yeah it has its faults, but all games do.

Yeah, I quite liked Gears' bleak visuals, it was very fitting with the theme. Halo 3 just decided to bloom everything to hell and back, and still it didn't look that good.

I think it's possible Gears will outsell Halo 3 because a lot more people are playing Xbox these days.

Everyone of my friends seem to have Halo 3, just because it's Halo. Most of the people I have spoken to said they'll get Gears 2.

Sales, on a whole, don't mean a whole lot when it comes to game quality anyways, so as a Halo hater, and a Gears lover, I couldnt care less about the "competition."

Some of my favorite games haven't been heard of by most of the gaming world.
