Yeah, I quite liked Gears' bleak visuals, it was very fitting with the theme. Halo 3 just decided to bloom everything to hell and back, and still it didn't look that good.

1. real world soliders dont have purple or blue armor, and sure as hell dont have boinic suits. what we have is bleak dull and depressing armor to blend in and show how crappy wqar is.thats one thing gears has on halo3.
2.Halo was based on fan base by being a great gameat the start. it became a horrible slew of crap and diarehea and bungie threw in out faces yet fanboys still want the crap.
3.Gears is EPIC, Halo is............NON-EPIC.

And I'm sure as hell that in the real world, aliens don't spring up from the ground to come kill us all. Neither game is realistic, and both games come at the genre from a different direction. It's pointless to criticize the games over these aesthetic choices.

And it's all very well to have an opinion, and I agree that Gears is a better game, but you really should back up your argument with reasoned facts rather than just throw insults at a game which you don't enjoy.

One thing that gears has on Halo is the fun you can have with friends.
Because it is so slow paced there is lots of time for jokes and lots of time for mindless fun

Gears, SLOW PACED? What game have you been playing?

Question is, what game have you been playing?
Cant you see, in gears there is hiding and waiting for the round to be finished once you are dead. Hence it is slow paced. Fast paced multis are once in which you die and are back to life straight away.(Halo COD 4)

Dude, Gears is fast as hell. I'm not saying Halo and CoD4 is slow paced. But sitting around after death does not make the game slow paced. The actual battles are incredibly intense. There's a lot more strategy and thinking involved. Also, it takes a lot less shots to kill someone, meaning you're gonna be running around all the time. Sitting around waiting is not a good way to play the game. Maybe you need to think too.

I'm guessing it will to be honest. I bought Halo myself when it was released and I was extremely disappointed with it. It wasn't a very long story mode, unrealistic, stuff like that. Never played it Online though.

I consider myself a Halo fan but Gears has its appeal

if i want a polished up , fine tuned shooter i'll play halo
if i want a gritty , dark and sometimes unpredictable game I'll go with Gears.
The reason Halo 3 did so well was because yes it was over hyped and was the final game of a trilogy. Not to mention Halo has been around for a few years now, its got a hell of a fan base. Still i do think Gears of War 2 has a chance (if somewhat slim) of outselling Halo 3 as Gears does have alot of fans.

Bungie needs to step it's game up or make

If any thing I thought the campaign was to small.

I was expecting large scale battles, there were a bunch of little fun battles but I wanted that one big end all battle. A battle so epic that consoles across the world would explode.

But we got a few Scarab battles and that was still cool I guess...

It was mainly how that model advertisement made us think there was some gigantic battle in the game. Severe disappointment imo.

I doubt it, Halo has a bigger fan base, not to mention it was advertised way more.

Gears won't sell more than Halo 3; hell, nothing will sell more than Halo 3 in the next 5 years except possibly SSBB and GTA IV. Fact is, the Halo fanbase is huge and fairly loyal. Anyone who says Halo 3 sucked needs to get their head of their ass and look at the facts. The original Halo wasn't ground breaking in any way, it wasn't the first game to utilize any of those features. It was however, the first game to combine them all and do it beautifully. Halo 2 and 3 more or less continued this tradition and are worth playing.
