What should be done about quitters?

I played about 4 12round games today and all 4 have had atleast a whole team quit twice and the other two atleast 2 people left.

In CoD3 it had a system of saying who got disconnected and who quit. I don't know if that can be implammented but it would be good if it could and the people who just quit automaticly got bad rep or something like that.

The same sort of penalty should be given for players in Gears 2, like a deduction of X amount of points from the leaderboards, anything harsher would result in Haloo's depressing rank deduction which was stupid because even if the disconnection wasn't your fault you were still paenalized.

If you quit, the points should be lost or the amount of kills in that match don't count.

I won't lie; I've quit quite a few times during my time on Gears. Why you ask? Because, when I'm not playing with friends, I'm almost ALWAYS stuck against a seasoned group of friends and playing with complete idiots who can't even get half the # of kills as myself.

That, or someone else on my team will quit first and I dont want to sit through an ass-kicking.

Leaderboard penalties are fine; But seriously, who actually gives a crap about them? They're pointless.

Considering your playing pretty shit anyways and won't have many kills.

If someone quit out of a ranked match then the next ranked match they play there character should be a really bright neon pink color.

That way everyone would have an easier time seeing him and thus making him see what its like playing at a disadvantage.
(you know, since he left his team mates at a disadvantage by quiting out earlier)

No that's stupid, sometimes people have to quit due to them having lives. It's obvious when people quit because they are losing but when somebody quits while they are winning or in a close game they probably have a good reason.

I agree. Quit penalties are stupid. One night while I was playing Call of Duty 4, I had to turn off my 360 in the middle of the match since I was going out to dinner. I was winning by a wide margin, but I do have shit I need to do, and some game isn't going to dictate how I spend my time (unlike, for instance, Halo 3).

I think people should simply be able to be invited into a ranked game or join a ranked game after it has started. That was the whole quitting business wouldn't matter as much.

However, being able to invite people to ranked matches sort of goes against the "trueskill" matchmaking that Epic want for their MP ranked games.

I think, while yes, there should be some minor penalty for quitters, it shouldn't be anything that crippling, people often do have legitimate reasons (as Seraph and Dan showed) for leaving games early.
