By randomly generated, do you mean the map is selected from the map list at random, or you want the game to actually create you a new map at random every time you play? If he's talking about randomly generating different maps and making them unique each time, then I think that is an idea that you'll never see implemented in the Gears games. Not that its a horrible idea, but its un-needed, especially when other areas could be addressed. ------------------- Lego Batman

What I meant was the game could create a new map for every session if you choose so, it would be pretty easy considering you could just make a grid systems and make 3d tilesets, and then just have the game place em procedurally so it works out, but a random map list would be cool too. ------------------- ![]() http://www.theorigins.org/index.php

They did this idea with Soldier of Fortune 2, and to be honest, it was ok for the first dozen random maps, then it just because tedious. It was obvious that it was just moving a guard tower from point A to point B, no matter what the random seed given to the program, and at times, it made the maps feel empty and boring, so it affected the flow of the game. I'd much rather go with a professionally designed map hundreds of times than hundreds of random maps with terrible balance, where spawn-locations gave the upper hand (such as in Worms). ------------------- ** signature disabled ** | |
