I'm underground and I just found out the Giant worm is there, but somewhere along the way I must've mistakenly replaced my Lancer for another gun. Is there another way to get a new one?

Yeah, they're lying around here and there. And if you find some COG bodies, there are sometimes Lancers near them. Cyclops' always have Lancers, too.
Although sometimes the game automatically gives you a Lancer, such as when you need to preform the triple-chainsaw bypass. ------------------- | |

Usually after every new place you'll be put with a new lancer. I'm pretty sure you get one reaaal soon. Hope that doesn't count as a spoiler.

There's always a lancer on the ground whenever there's a bit you need a lancer for.
