Laws and their effect. |
|
I haven't yet got the game but I'm pretty sure I'm getting for Xmas. I was wondering about the laws and how they work.
1st) I read somewhere about attacking and not KO'ing causes a yellow card while KO'ing causes red. Is this true? 2nd) If Marche goes to jail do you lose? If so, who else will cause you to lose if they get locked up? 3rd) And are there any really important things about laws that I should know, but it's one of those, 'you wont know until your mess up' and they don't mention beforehand.

1) This isnt always true. It all depends on what law cards are on the field. If you brake 1 and the character survives, you receive a yellow card. If you kill him automatically you receive a red card. 2 yellow cards equal to 1 red card.
2) Yes if Marche gets sent to jail you automatically lose so make sure you dont brake any laws with him. Also another way to lose is if you are in an engagement in which you need to protect a character. If that character dies it might be game over. 3) Yes. A little late in the game you will be allowed to purchase Antilaw cards which get rid of laws in an engagement. Also make sure you check what laws are in an engagement before attacking. ------------------- » A Calm Abyss Devouring an Endless Soul -- [Decadence|Oathbreaker]

§ · There are a lot of myths and misunderstandings about the Judgement System and laws. To your first question: this only happens if you are breaking a law, not anytimg you're attacking. So if there's a law forbidding fire and you're using a fire spell, you're going to get a card.
To your second question, it's true that you must keep Marche intact throughout each battle in order to keep the game going. Another way to lose is getting your entire team wiped out, but this doesn't always result in a game over. It depends on the mission. Third thing: you learn pretty much everything you need to know by reading up on Rumors in pubs. Some of the law names and descriptions can be confusing, though. "Missiles", for instance, refers to arrows, so it's unwise to use Archers during battles where these are outlawed. Also, make sure you check laws a few days ahead by hopping ahead with the cursor and pressing the R button. This shows you the laws that will be in effect on the day you reach that location. If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask. ------------------- NO, HE DIDN'T.YES HE DID.

Thanks and I do have another law question or two.
Say you have a guy that can use two blades 1st This is possible right? Then melee weapons are against the law 2nd Is that possible? 3rd If you were to attack and not KO' would you get a red card because 2 yellows (One from each blade) are gained? That's it for now.

quote Snowfox DreamerSo if I attack and not wound them, I would get a yellow, but if I did do damage what would happen, or if I Ko'ed it while using an outlawed weapon, and are these increased when using two weapons? And if you answered this, I probably didn't understand it. This message was edited by ZephyrShakuraus on Dec 15 2003.

§ · The number of weapons you're using doesn't matter. Essentially, it all depends on the category of the weapon, if it's outlawed, and if you KO'd the unit. Even with one sword, the penalty will only result in a Red Card if you happen to deliver a KO.

Thanks, again. I do have another question but it isn't related to laws, so I hope no one minds...
In Nintendo Power they only talk about three kinds of magic, Blue(might have been ice), Red (might have been fire) and Holy. Are there more kinds than this? This message was edited by ZephyrShakuraus on Dec 15 2003. -------------------

§ · Actually, the colors of the magic to not pertain to any particular element. There are a lot of different types of magic. Blue Magic varies greatly and is a set of abilities that you can learn from enemy units. Red Magic is a mix of select Black and White Magic.
Black Magic is mainly offensive attack magic. White Magic is primarily healing or support magic. Then there are the magic skillsets that are not considered to be "colored" and can range from instant death to powerful summoned beasts. There are quite a few, but you should probably ask about this elsewhere. ------------------- NO, HE DIDN'T.YES HE DID.

One guy told me that people with a medal in battle can not go to jail and that is not fair.

quote Tyson_80Yep! That's true and been discussed somewhere, they won't go to jail no matter how many yellow cards they get, and yes, that makes me angry too and I'm sure the rest of us FFTA fans too. -------------------

Not only the medal allows the boss breaking the laws but the medal also protect the boss from One-Hit-KO moves, petrify and Stop.

I suppose it's only fair. If that wasn't in place, we'd all be griping about this huge oversight on Squareenix's part.
