All the races are good if you play to their strengths:
Bangaa - melee
Viera - finesse
Nu Mou - magic
Moogle - status effects
Humans - all rounders

I like bangass as well for their WPN ATTK

Humans and Viera are the best. Humans have Double Sword and Counter and Viera have Assassins and Doublecast.

I always start games on the "Steal: Ability" fast track, which means lots of "[Race] Wanted" missions. I use them to get one human leveled as a Fighter and three Viera (one each leveled as an Assassin, Sniper, and White Mage).

Marche and my other human end up as Doublesword Ninjas with Chivalry and Fighter skillsets (switched between based on the mission); they become my tanks that wander out into the middle of the map, hit with Air Render/Far Fist for some damage, and then finish off enemies with Counter.

Montblanc is leveled as a Juggler and becomes a Gunner with Concentrate, using Stopshot, Blindshot, and Charmshot to disrupt the enemies that I can't kill on the first turn or that pose the greatest threat.

The Sniper and Assassin Viera are both switched out of their roles to learn the base skill sets and unlock Elementalist jobs. They ultimately both become Assassins with Elementalist support skills. Both learn Concentrate and use Fire Whip to bind distant enemies. When possible, they eliminate nearer enemies by attack or Rockseal. The Sniper has more HP and DEF, so it gets sent farther toward the opposition when needed.

The White Mage Viera has the highest MAG and MP, is levelled as an Elementalist and Red Mage, and learns the Summoner skill set before becoming a Red Mage again. It has Summon as a second skillset and uses a combination of Summoning attacks and Red Mage status impairments and healing with Doublecast. This unit will hang behind my humans, disabling enemies with Sleep or killing them with attacks.

300 completed missions without a unit ever being taken out doesn't lie.

i prefer fast humans.

second, i like moogles, especially gunenrs-status ailments.

i like least are the bangaas-they're soooo slow! they're being KO'd or put status ailment to them before they get their move.

i love also fencers with assassin build and secondary skills- cuz i put shield on them for better evasion.
i like also their ribbons.

for nu mous-there nothing so much to talk about-pure magics

P.S. i making a melee no mou. a battle type nu mou, preferably a morpher with a beastmaster build
