Guide To Best Route And Vehicle Choices |
|
I don't think this is going to be very busy in this thread since the forum is so quiet, but hopefully as more people pick up the game over time this place will get more attention.
I play online a few nights a week and win the majority of races. Half of that I put down to my ability to play, and half is knowing which vehicles and routes to pick on the selected tracks. I thought I would post up a small guide as to which are the best combinations over the next couple of weeks. If you have any queries as to how a vehicle performs against another one, I will try and make a recording if I can or reply with a message within this thread. Human error does play a factor every now and then, put if I lose half a second or more in a recorded video I will explain where and how it happened, and what the final lap time would have been otherwise. This information can be found in the description box of each video on Youtube. To start of with here are two vehicle comparison videos and two route comparison videos. Watch this in HD CALDERA RIDGE: Route comparison:
Watch this in HD CASCADE FALLS: Vehicle Comparison: Mudplugger Vs Racing truck Here I will also show you a sneaky little shortcut that most of you probably don't know about. It can shave an extra 5 seconds off your lap time. Watch this in HD ------------------- ![]()

Great video's man, the quality is a bit shit for HD but thats probably Youtubes fault.
One track I always get stuck on is the watercovered one which starts off on sand going through the pool and ends going through jungle and mud. I am trying to find the best route on a bike but can't get it right. ------------------- ![]() formally known as Matt_The_Master

Yeah, the actual recordings are in 576p SD resolution and then upscaled to 720p on my computer. They look pretty sharp for what they are but are inevitably worsened by Youtube. Did you click on the HD link or HD tab in the Youtube video, because these embedded videos can only initially be watched at Youtube's lowest quality, you have to activate the HD yourself.
I think you're on about Kanaloa bay. I usually do this in a buggy, but the best people will go on this in a big rig. The buggy is usually second choice and then the bike afterwards. The route I usually take from the start line is to head straight down the sand but stay close to the trees near the middle. There is an opening between the trees to head under the arch and in to a puddle of water. Taking the route between the trees means you avoid the first deep puddle, therefore maintaining full speed. Stick to the left of the puddle under the arch to avoid being slowed down and then pull to the right immediately afterwards. You'll see a palm tree and wooden bridge - take that and ignore all of the foliage, you pretty much want to just head straight from there. You'll fly over another wooden bridge before the scenery opens up and there's a small river. Stick to the right hand edge of this river until the track turns sharply right. At this point hop over the river and you'll see a ramp before the track splits. Avoid the ramp by sticking to the right (remember air time is lost time) but head for the higher ground with the corrugated metal corner. After the left hand turn, where you have an option for higher ground or to dive through the river, take the river and boost through it despite it being deep and slow, it's still the best route. You've got to stick to the left hand side of the river crossing though as it gets deeper the further you are on the right. Head up the higher ground but keep to the right of it. There's another split in amongst the tress heading to the right and on to a ramp. Head over there and take the ramp on the middle-left of it. Going too far to the left of this ramp will send you in to tress while too far to the right will fling you in to a rock. Once you land briefly turn left and then haul your ass right as tightly as you can before the whacking great arrow sign in front of you. You'll jump over a small puddle and should keep to the right to avoid a dip that sends you in to another tree. There's a small valley approaching on your left as you head upwards, go in there and start turning right. It's pretty muddy, but take it as fast as you can and don't worry about the bushes blocking your view. As you come over the crest you're at the start line. The video of the above description is below, although only in a 640x480 resolution as it takes a very long time for my internet connection to upload HD res vids. ------------------- ![]()
