Hiya, i need 2 rathalos plates and 4 rathian plates for "Eternal Annihilator" A 672 raw and 520 dragon attribute weapon with green sharpness. (Good for me). I'd like it to slay the akantor.

Please list any methods of obtaining rathalos and rathian plates you have, as well as weaknesses of the two (normal OR pink and azure/gold and silver). I think you need to do high rank to obtain them but I'm not sure. Any reccomended quests to do? I can do high rank rathalos and rathian alone in nekohts quests (like ONE quest for rathalos and separate rathian). If there's an item to trade to the elder or something...please tell me.

Ok first of all that weapon sucks. The dragon attr is good, but the sharpness is awful. Get a raw hammer and pound your akantor.

Best way is to go on tail runs, find the los/ian and cut it's its tail. Carve it, if its a plate hurrah! If it's not abandon. If it is a plate (or a ruby) kill yourself 3 times to fail the mission or capture the monster.

I'd get a much stroger GS than that. That kinda GS is mostly good for fighting Fatalis (but only when fully upgrade) Siegmund is a RELLY good Greatsword to get (you're gonna need monoblos hearts tho...) Or, get True dragon's jaw (upgraded from Agito and much easier to get) But if you wanna fight akantor, get smolder dragon sword, azure ogre sword, gun chariot or anything else with good strong raw and decent dragon attirbute. Or something with really high raw, like Onslaught hammer =)

For plates, like Ultimate said, you're gonna have to go on tail runs (yay ) Cut the tail, carve it, if its not a plate, abandon the quest. If is a plate, you have three choices, get yourself killed 3 tmes, kill the mnster or capture the monster, but DONT abandon if you got the plate, you'll lose it as everything in your inventory restarts back to what was originally there befor the quest was initiated.

Regular los/ian, and azure los/pink ian are weakest to dragon on the head. Silver los/gold ian are weakest to thunder. Impact type weapons on the head and slicing weapons on the wings for silver los/gold ian.

Also try killing the gold and silver ian/los, better chance.

oh i have onslaught hammer :/. it seems to take AGES though. I pound the hell out of his head but to no much affect :/. I'll try smoulder dragonsword, but I don't know if I can get it yet.

EDIT: I have FIRE dragonsword . But I DO have 2 teostra horns, and one lao-shan's horn. and 4-8 firestones. (Where do I get those?)


EDIT EDIT: Dragon Slayer has green sharpness, onslaught hammer has blue...(I have it). It isn't that much better :/.

whos cares bout that sharpness? it can't cut the tail so the gs is still better...

now does sharpness count there for the hammer?

remember...the gs can do what the hammer does...except for the stunning part

Sharpness matters, the better the sharpness, the higher damage you can do. If Onslaught hammer is taking too long, get Diablos Chaos Broker. Upgraded from hard bone hammer. has -10 affinity tho which can be easily fixed, and is somewhat stronger than Onslaught hammer.
Smolder Dragonsword will get you through that Akantor fight. Attack the back right leg to trip him up alot and get free hits in. Occasionally attack the face as thats his weakspot, yet where most of his deadly attacks come from...so beware.
Here's a little tip, you know that wind tunnel attack of his? Well if you use a sonic bomb before he does it, you can interrupt that attack, making him fall down, writhing in pain, plus dropping a shiny! So use that opportunity to get lots of free hits in.
