i was working on my HR2 when the quest to slay it came up. my strongest weapon is the devil slicer and my strongest with dragon attribute is black scythe. i also have full death stench and kirin armors which are my best sets. so would i actually stand a chance in winning or should i just wait till im further in the game?

Tell me the stats of those two weapons i i can't be bothered looking. Though the Scythe will most likely be better.

out of those weapons- black scythe with kirin armour is best as it has element attack up. but seriously, there are much better weapons out there. black hammer/lute will do a decent abount of damage if you watch guides on how to hammer them. lao shan is my biatch! ! i have 37 kills

nice. all i know is to have at it on it belly.. how long would it take to kill it. theres only 35 mins. so does it flee like all the other dragons?

You won't be able to kill it, so don't bother trying and risking getting killed.

Just keep attacking the head for a safe repel. Head is more effective to repel it, and a lot safer.

Attack the belly to kill...but I guarantee you won't be able to do that at your level. Just go for a safe repel.

I'd go for the stomach for a bigger chance of repelling it. Also it's not much trouble attcking it neither, plus his stomach will barely do damage to you. My first try against hm, I did attack the head for a bit, but I bravely moved to the stomach and attack there, and noticed my weapon did more damage to it than the stomach. I had a longsword at the time as well. With your longsword, your back hop swings will keep you along with the stomach moving towards you. Ignore the anti-dragon bombs. When he reaches the fort, ue your ballista ammo the second he comes in the area. Even tho you don't see him, your shots WILL hit, just aim towards the entracne he comes in from. Then go down and attack the stomach some more. You will have yourself a repel. Who knows, maybe even a kill

If you wanna be more daring, use a lance or hammer on he stomach. The lances back hops will come inhandy, then al you gotta do is upstb the stomach repeadetly while back hopping. With a hammer, just triple pound contnously. Hammer and Lances are very effective at repelling/killing lao shan. Just get a high raw hammer and lance. Good luck

The head's cutting damage modifier is 28 and has a stagger(flinch) limit of 400 HP.
The stomach's cutting damage modifier is 55 has a stagger(flinch) limit of 1200 HP.

For the sake of comparison, if we assume both the head and the stomach have a cutting damage modifier of 55 (you would be dealing the same amount of damage per hit on the stomach and the head):
The head stagger limit would be 785 HP.
The stomach stagger limit would be 1200 HP.

So even with the lower damage being dealt to the head, it's a lot more effective for flinching him. However, it's obvious the stomach will take more damage, so this is the way to go when you want to kill it.

Attacking the head means he will flinch more, and take longer to get to the fort.
This means you will be able to repel him easier and he will not get as much of a chance to attack the fort since you'll be delaying him so much with his flinches.

When you attack the head:

• You don't get knocked away when it flinches
• You won't get crushed when it collapses
• You don't get stepped on
• You won't fall behind and get hit by the tail
• Your camera won't spaz out inside him and cause you to die from tail/feet

OP is no where near strong enough to kill it.
Go for the head. It's win/win and an easy ride.
Unless you would like to practise on the stomach for when you do kill it one day.

I've provided you with the information, I'm sure you can make an intelligent decision yourself.

lol for all you guys saying he cant kill it i just killed it with Devil slicer (tried just for a laugh) OP if you want to kill bring as many LBB+ as you can and use them in each area on the head and as soon as you can go for the stomach (i used my weakest armour set gemmed for attack up large and used only 1 felyne in the kitchen, it think thats right for your hr. i used mega Demon Drugs and power seeds.) i killed it with less than a minute left.

WTF! i have just fought the hr2 lao shan lung and i protected the fortress to 50% and when the time ran out, it told me that i was unable to protect the fortress. WTH is up with that?

YOU sir, haven't dealt enough damage to make it an official repel. Try using a hammer or lance, two of the lao shan raping weapons.

how much raw damage should the lance/hammer be? also, would a gunlance work? because i suck with regular lances.
