To hell with the OTDs and Do or Die threads.

As a mod, he should do what's right for the forum. Not what makes the members happy. Do or Die threads usually take no effort in posts. People would simply type, "Die, he sucks." or "Do. F'n Do." Where's the discussion value?

OTDs are the same thing, pointless threads and a cheap excuse for spamming.

Deal with the current state and wait for more info to come out.

Yeah, I totally have to agree with Ped there to an extent. Whilst I think in a smaller one, like the GTA on I modded previously, an OTD can help to build a community, in a bigger place like here the OTDs are nothing but bad. You guys may want one, but the only real things it brings to the forum are spam and flaming, and in the '08 forum I had to clean out 57 OTDs; there wasn't one where I didn't have to go in and delete posts for one reason or another.

To an extent I agree with Ped's views, although it often differs from the type of community we're in. Some OTDs in other forums are running smoothly and perfectly because most members posting in there are being adequate and aren't acting like 10-year olds. Just making a friendly and enjoyable community. The OTDs in older SD! forums were like so too. While in 08.. for some members it hasn't showed that at all.

What I'd propose is a simple firm and monitored trial to see where that could lead, and obviously if it went through it would be followed with austere rules, such as one noticeable mess up and the OTDs are scrapped on the spot. But indeed, that's all in G's hands.

The thing with this supposed "innovation" that G wanted to bring is that it's a forum...there's not exactly much you can do differently...
