Return of the Deleted Seven DW Characters...? |
|
Seven warriors were lost in the transition to Dynasty Warriors 6. No fancy new costumes, no new weapons, and not even a chance to be Free Mode-only. These characters were omitted in complete detail (e.g. no generic stand-ins at important battles either). They are the Deleted Seven:
Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires has officially announced the return of Meng Huo. The Nanman King has dropped 200 pounds of fat and gained 300 in muscle: Meng Huo redesign And now, Koei reissues the Orochi series in efforts to squeeze out every penny of profit of the tired PS2 combat engine with Musou Orochi Z (or Warriors Orochi: The Collective for NA/EU). Orochi Z is a PS3-only merge of WO and WO2, but with a handful of new content (including two new characters, Benkei and Sanzang Fashi (Tripitaka) ) Another new addition is a fourth costume for each character (another thread in itself). All DW character get their DW6 costumes, so what do the Deleted Seven get? Take a look: ![]() thanks to SuperDioplus for finding the pics Notice how Meng Huo has his DW6:E body (sort of... still has the fat, hunched-over stance). I wonder if this is a clue of the future of the Deleted Seven. Perhaps this is a glimpse of their future, a glorious return in DW7 (or even perhaps DW6:E) ? Will they return? Should they return? Thoughts? ------------------- ![]() I met my nemesis. With our blades, we spoke more than words ever could.

Would be exciting news if there was any promise of KOEI mixing up their game a little.Re-addition of characters is silly to me. It should be the re-addition of CERTAIN characters, denail that others like Xing Cai even existed, and then the new-addition of Yu Jin, Guna Xing, Zhang Bao, etc..
And are those scans from PS3.... ugh.. ------------------- ![]() TRISTAN ASHE

I think Pang De and Jiang Wei have to be there...I never liked nanman much, but I guess they add variety, adding an exotic aspect to the game...the xiao's are completely useless^^ Zuo Ci has little to do with battles, too.

Bringing back characters would be brilliant - they shouldn't have gone in the first place so I think that they will be making a return somewhere along the line
I completely agree that Xing Cai should just stay removed - why she was ever introduced in the first place is beyond me Pang De's costume looks brilliant with the removal of some of the armour making it believable that he could actually be part of the Xi Liang cavalry As for DW7 characters, Deng Ai and Ding Feng need to be playable imo! That WOZ does look very handy for those who haven't got the WO games yet but for those of us who already own both, there seems very little point getting it really...it does seem odd moving the 'old moveset system' onto the PS3 too ------------------- ![]()

Jiang Wei has always been basically my favorite person from Shu to use. If they bring him back with that outfit, I don't think I'd play anybody else. especially if his moveset isn't garbage(see Lu Xun).
Zuo Ci looks cool enough to bring back, but that's the only reason I'd bring him back. otherwise he can stay out. If Xiao Qiao's in bring back Da Qiao. please. Atleast as a cinematics character or something. one without the other... it just fails. never cared for Zhu Rong. Meng Huo can stay. Zhu Rong would add comical... flavor to the nanman, but other than that... don't really care if she stayed or not. Bring back Pang De. He's important. Xing Cai. No. As far as WOZ goes. I hope they really don't screw Benkei like they did Yoshitsune. Yoshitsune didn't fit in WO2 at all, but with Benkei he finally has a place. Other guy idk about. I still highly dislike WOZ simply because... it's another WO. I love the WO series and everything, but I just have this... unrelenting bias against WOZ that simply won't let me like it no matter what they do. -------------------

Removing cloned movesets of the existing characters would be more worthwhile than bringing these guys back imo, but I would like to see a few of them return in the future.
Pang De with a personality makeover could be a great addition, fleshing out Tong Gate, not to mention Ma Chao and Ma Dai (if he ever joins the roster). The Nan Zhong stages are always fun to play, and tbh I can't see how they can bring Meng Huo back while leaving out Zhu Rong. Zuo Ci was a great person to play as in DW5, so I'd like to see him back, but not as the highest priority. I don't personally like Jiang Wei, though I can see he is essential to the story if it is to extend past 234 AD. All those costumes look great though. Things are looking up for the Warriors
-guang Not really, they're still the same warriors whom have now been used for way too many releases.A slightly different costume doesn't change that they're still the same characters that debuted in DW5,lived on through DW5Xl/E and then through WO/WO2. Add in the fact that those same maps, too, are suffering from the same reused factor and you have another Koei game.I'd say things are looking cross-eyed for the warriors. I shall join Kakusei in his departure... -------------------

re: Return of the Deleted Seven DW Characters...? |
quote KujaI liked her potential. Is it worth adding returning characters when there is so much more to be done, adding new levels, improving gameplay, deciding if to give stories to everyone, decloning movesets? In the long term: Meng Huo: I really think he should be empires or free mode only, he has one stage then a not too convincing what if story. Other then a Liang worshipathon, the Nanman were insignificant compared to the Shan Yue, Wuhuan or the Qiang, why not give them a stage vs their respective Chinese counterparts? Zhu Rong: See above. Jiang Wei: No as things stand. Yes he was important to the story but only after Wu Zhang, as things stand they have 3 adviser types and that is crowded as it is. Should they go past Wu Zhang then bring back Jiang Wei and make him nastier, Shu needs one or two evil blokes. Zou Ci: Fun to play as so would like him back but free mode only Pang De: When Ma Chao gets a musou mode, Pang De should return with a story of his own. His career under and against so many lords makes him a fascinating man Da Qiao: Prefer her over Xiao but would drop both Xing Cai: Drop Guan Ping, there is little they can do with him, include Cai instead. While on paper she doesn't have much, daughter of Zhang Fei, wife of Liu Shan, said to be frugal, there is a lot of possibility. Related to the Xiahou's and Cao's, connection to three brothers and through her, koei can show the lazy Liu Shan in a different light then traditional.

Fu Xi and Nu Wa are present in Warriors Orochi 2
I don't believe that there should've ever had to have been a decision as to whether to give every character a story mode or not. Never before DW6 was there a problem in cutting out characters/story modes so I personally found it outrageous that such things happened - the game revolves around the story modes so each character having one should simply be compulsory in my opinion. Also in defence of Guan Ping, at least he was in the novel unlike Xing Cai...we've got WO for the fiction now so I'd rather stick to 'historically influenced' events/people within the DW games Expanding the game to include battles centered around the Qiang etc sounds a nice idea though ------------------- ![]()
