Yes, but some of us want custom battles. Custom in meaning we want to fight our own way.

well you can do that. just say in your battle thread you want to battle a certain way.
this is what the diamond forums do. even most of those times no one replies in those threads -------------------

No need for that Omac, you can always ask the mentors in a stickied thread on the Diamond Forum. And if you want battles, just ask in the Battle Forum.
Anyway, orez is right about everything, in a nutshell. Although your links didn't work for me. And I like the Pokemon of the Week deal, seems nice to get people more competitive and can offer great discussion. ------------------- ![]()

Can we just put in brackets:
[Competitive] and [Custom] to tell which is which? If we say yes, maybe we should ask Beast.

or we could do that. but we still will need the competive rules and rmt stuff in the rules section.
also we should of the two tags you said plus one more for RMT rmt tag will be [RMT] -------------------

quote XboxOmacNobody is forcing you to use the competitive battling rules. They're there to be used solely as a reference for those who enjoy battling using metagame standards, or for those who want to learn. If you don't have any interest in the Pokemon Platinum metagame then simply create either a [Request] or [Challenge] thread, I fail to see how that's hard to comprehend. quote ryan123456789Indeed. Also this is a time where I've pretty much agreed with what you've said wholeheartedly. XboxOmac, know that the metagame standards are only there to promote the gameplay on a fair level. That which is uncounterable is banned, thus you can have some freedom in what you play with. But yeah, all in all, people just list the rules they wish to abide by (At least in Diamond Battles) in their battle thread. Mostly it's just "Standard Clauses." Or at least it was last time I frequented there. quote ZetaAwesome that you agree. Also, tell me which ones didn't work and I'll correct them posthaste. I did Pokemon of the week in Diamond for a while, I dunno if you saw it (you may have). Got about 10 pages worth of decent replies, though fell through due to the competitive community falling part and me going through IRL crap. Probably more of the latter. <_< But uh, thoughts on Pokemon of the week here, Mr. 009? Or no? quote ryan123456789RMT tag was already discussed in the rules there. I read them before I posted anything so I didn't go over anything that's already well covered, good sir. Just check the Battles Subforum's threads and you'll see. aimkidd93, what browser are you running on? Sometimes a browser will improperly render a character like the accented e, and it winds up like that. I'm not sure how to correct it, but it should correct itself. Try Ctrl+F5. ------------------- ![]()

The "e" in Pokemon has a symbol over it. When on the computer, you need to type a special "code" to make the special "e" appear. Thats what that is.
Neo is probably having a bug or something, it works fine with me right now though. EDIT: And orez, all the links weren't working for me. ;-; I am on my Wii's browser though, so that might just be it. I think I remember Pokemon of the Week, I never posted, but I have read through it and it seemed interesting. EDIT2: Nevermind, the links are working now. ------------------- ![]()

quote orezI like the idea of a Pokemon of the Week thread, it looks like it would generate some interesting discussion that could be applied to both the metagame and game alike.

There are multiple ways of getting the accented e. Whilst in a word processor or IM Client (I know MSN works. Dunno on the others), press Ctrl+'. Release the button. Press the e key. This doesn't work on Neo's boxes for me, but that's the way I get the e when necessary. The same principle can be applied to other accents as well (:, `, ~, ^, etc). There are Alt-Codes too, but I don't know those, sorry.
For those who didn't see it, we just kinda picked a Pokemon viable in the metagame, elaborated on some of it's uses, analyzed it, and gave a set and stuff. Discussion followed. I remember doing Slowbro, Garchomp, Ampharos, and Breloom. edit: Awesome. I'll probably get that today or tomorrow along with everything else. I'll try to keep it sorta simple if you wish, that way more could participate? ------------------- ![]()

Beast, you should do some searches in Diamond and Pearl for threads like Pokemon of the Week and any ideas that come up, for many times have they been done, and some to more success than others. I also offer the suggestion of having a chat to a member named Fishpaste, who's the most experienced and skilled battler on Neo, who can give you some general ideas on what to expect with competitive battling and Pokemon in the forums.
Not trying to be Mr. cynical, orez, but we both know how unsuccessful similar things have been in Diamond, and with the exact same community in here, do you think anything will be different? Will the few of us able to somewhat keep up with Beej be active enough in a thread? You've been a part of these things and have not been active, because of the response and the participation we've got from members about this.
