re: The best water pokemon to have is...?

I would say Lapras would pwn for you, but of course, you can't really get one until Victory Road or something. Unless you trade =3

Definately go for a dual type though. What you pick also depends on your team. My Rule: Do NOT get 2 of the same type, even if it is only half of the same. Get as many different types as possible.

re: The best water pokemon to have is...?

Well Kyogre hands down is the best "Water" pokemon, but if u dont want ubers then id go with Golduck hes learns hydro cannon and can learn tm 29 (psychic) and no pun intended he blows Swamperts stats out of the water. yet Garyados is a fair match.

I would go with gyarados. He has quite a nice movepool and he is a very sturdy, reliablepokemon In-game. Be careful of electric types when using him though becasue they tear him up.

I guess Gyarados is like the strongest water pokemon you can get at the early part of any of the versions I guess.

I'd still say Milotic is the best for me. It has mirror coat and recovery. Tentacruel is also good. I like it's clear body effect. Repeatedly missing your target all because of smoke screen can be annoying.

Ludicolo may not be the BEST Grass Pokemon, but he definitely has the LEAST amount of weaknesses, and he is Dual Grass/Water Type.

re: The best water pokemon to have is...?

If you are talking about before the Pokemon League, then I would say Gyrados. He would probably be better for Wi-fi too considering that he isn't uber (If you have an uber in your Wi-fi team, then your battle is often canceled). If you don't want Gyrados, then Starmie is another good option.
