Chie

I like classics.
And for me, classics in Persona 4 meant: Yusuke, Chie and Yukiko.
The original team.
I stuck with them from the very beginning and didn´t budge as the story progressed.
No Kanji, no Naoto, no Teddy.

But as I played the game, I started to realise that whereas Yusuke and Yukiko advanced in stats, spells and usefulness, Chie started dragging.
At level 85, she should have been as capable as the other 2.
But whereas Yusuke was throwing highly effective garudynes, physical attacks and tentarafoos and Yukiko was bailing out the gang every other round with her salvations and diarahans (when she wasn´t busy kicking royal derrière with her mighty agydines), Chie got left behind.

Her most powerful spells were those measly bufulas, her strongest physical attacks... I even forgot their names due to their irrelevancy.

Only prob is... I came to like the short haired firestarter.
Lovely character design in a tomboyish sorta way, sweet personality and hands down the best, funniest and most lovable seiyuu in the game (for me).
So, I need to believe there was something I missed.
Girl is not a freeloader, I just didn´t use it right.
Right?
Maybe I erased a spell I shouldn´t have erased when she learned new ones. Maybe I failed to use her to her maximum capacity or neglected some powerful ability she had.

Did I?

re: Chie

Everyone else loves Chie for the combo of Power Charge + Agneyastra. Me, I think she's meh... I have a full breakdown of her Chie vs. Kanji in another thread, let me go find it. (I much prefer Kanji over Chie).

Thread -- There you go, sir. That's my thoughts on every character in the game. Chie included if you want to go take a peak.

Wow, thanks for the link, BrokenKnights, that was one extensive analysis you did on the characters´weaknesses and strenghts and I found myself agreeing with everything you said.

A great read.

re: Chie

Chie stops learning Ice attacks at about the level that you get Teddie at, as he takes over as the Ice spell-caster, and Chie moves more into the realms of physical attacks, with Ageyastra and God's Hand.
You were missing out if you only used three of the six main characters, though. The other three learn some good attacks. I'd say the best team for difficult fights if Yukiko, Teddie and Kanji/Naoto(depends whether you want physical or magical attacks. I would have advised you alternate between two teams, to keep them fairly evenly leveled.

re: Chie

The problem with having Yukiko and Teddie on a team is that they both have a Weakness and the real tough bosses like the Reaper will punish the hell out of you for having them both on your team. I'd stick to one or the other and make sure you have Eye of Ice equipped on Yukiko or Eye of Thunder equipped on Teddie to help with their weaknesses.

re: Chie

Despite weaknesses, I switch out Chie for Teddie because he also has the other two buffs to pair with Yosuke, not to mention he can cure Enervation (But so can Yukiko with Salvation. =/) he also has Traesto which warps you out of the dungeon like a Goho-M (Go-hoMe) cept now you don't need to spend bucks and shit and he learns Ma/Bufudyne.

    And he's cute so I couldn't resist. =3

re: Chie

Pretty sure I swapped Chie with Teddie so I could use Teddie to concentrate on healing/buffs and use Yukiko as a more attack based character.

re: Chie

I keep Chie in. She did the most damage on my team Physical Wise.

I did all the buffing
Yukiko Did the Healing
And Yousuke attacked along with Chie

There's a sneaky way around that problem with the reaper. Use a magic mirror or spell equivalent on whoever he is picking on. The reaper will not fire off a spell if it is going to bounce back at him. Instead he will just keep using Megidola (or whichever one of that type he uses). As long as you keep your health up you'll win the fight eventually.

re: Chie

Usually if you have on an Eye he switches over to Megidolaon as well. I thought I had him beat for sure when I equipped the Ice of Ice on Yukiko and then he started dropping the Mind Charged Megidolaons. Which are fine to take every now and then, but he just started spamming then and I was a pretty low level when I started farming him and it was just not a pleasant experience.

The Reaper is actually one of the best fights in the game because he adapats to whatever you throw at him (except being massively leveled )

Farming him? AFAIK any given chest in any given dungeon might be generated to hold him if you are playing a new game+. I only saw him 3 times in my last game IIRC - how exactly can you go about farming him when he's so hard to find?

Sweet. I'll keep that in mind for my next game. As I recall one of the times I ran into him was in one of those places.

You're not kidding.
I once encountered him 4 times on the same floor.
It only took me one visit to get all 7 ultimate weapons and 7 Godly Robes.

ACtually Chie is your major damange dealer in most boss battles,Have her raise her attack and Yosuke raise her hit/envasion and then have her cast Power charge and she can do up to 500 damange on the final boss. With this combination she makes most boss battles mince meat.
