re: Starting Pokemon

torchic all the way, or maby mudkip
why:
sceptile isnt that good and hes the only starter without 2 types (also not that good looking)
I would rather have a walrein then a swampert although with swamperts groung type he isnt effected by electicity as walrein is
torchic has two good types, learns good moves and i dont know what else i would use for a fire-type if i chose some1 else as my starter

overall dont pick sceptile i would pick midkip or torchic

(note that ive started with all three and my blaziken became the strongest out of all of them, but you might come up with different results so pick wut u like, jus not sceptile)

re: Starting Pokemon

I don't mind Sceptile. He's probably the weakest, but he learns the move False Swipe, which is very good when catching hard-to-get Pokémon.

I chose Mudkip. I've always favoured Water types, and I really like that it gets a Ground type too. IT BLOCKS ELECTRIC!

re: Starting Pokemon

sceptile-nice speed
swampert-good typing and has a moveset to counter weaknesses
blazekin-i favor this one because of the nice stats and moveset and has an interesting type matching

re: Starting Pokemon

It depends on your taste:

Treecko -- recommended for collection of Pokemon, as it is one of the dudes that learn False Swipe. But the real reason for the goodness of Sceptile is its VERY EASY TM/HM list and Learning list. Also, Treecko's can learn a bunch of great egg moves like Dragonbreath and it's a unique move for a Grass move to have. Overall, Treecko is recommended for its great movelist.

Mudkip -- the easiest to handle as Water/Ground is a very strong combination. It gets the Ground type after evolving into Marshtomp, and Swampert still has it. Swamperts have large HP and Atk, the problem is its Sp. Atk is low. With the hands of a great trainer, it can be a very powerful battle Pokemon that has 4 different move types, most notably Ice-Water-Ground-Rock. But here's the difficult part: if you are a researcher, you'll be confused with its moves. Will you let it evolve at level 42 so that it learns Hydro Pump, or will you let it evolve into Marshtomp immediately? I personally prefer only evolving it after it learns Hydro Pump since you don't lose anything except Muddy Water (which is weaker than Surf -_-), but if you're finishing the storyline with Mudkip then you really have to evolve it. I recommend you just get an Egg next time and get your Swampert with a Hydro Pump-Earthquake combo. BEWARE, FOR GIGA DRAIN CAN ELIMINATE SWAMPERT IMMEDIATELY! Not to mention that your opposite gender rival would probably have Grovyle/Sceptile that could easily whittle this down -_-

Torchic -- for a new experience in Pokemon, try this. It;s got decent stats in Speed and Attack and it still has the type of Fighting. You'll only lose Flamethrower (?) if you evolve it immediately, but it's replaced by very reliable Fighting moves and unique Fire moves like Blaze Kick. I recommend this for a thrill.

It depends upon your taste. Now choose. I didn't have problem choosing since I got all 3 of them -_-

re: Starting Pokemon

Wait. How do you get Treecko to learn Dragon Breath?

Mine was Torchic. I choose it mainly because it could easily beat Mudkip when I battle May, and because Blazikin looks cool.

re: Starting Pokemon

I strongly recommend Mudkip. Swampert is a really good an impressive pokemon in this game. It can learn excellent move such as Earthquake and Surf. It isn't affected by electric attacks. Plus it has good balanced stats. It's my number one.

In second hand, I recommend Torchic. I didn't use Blaziken very much, but for what I have experienced with it, it was a pretty good pokemon, with excellent Attack and Sp. Attack stats.

Last, Treeko. I didn't like this pokemon at all. It has a poor defense and don't learn really good moves. Sorry for Treeko lovers but I really think that this pokemon sucks.

Now you choose!

re: Starting Pokemon

I prefer Mudkip as a starter anyway as it does the first few gyms easier than any others, but also when you battle your rival it can learn ice type moves which are super effective against grass types.
