A ROM is a version of a game that you can get online, and play on an emulator, which basically means free - and ILLEGAL - gaming.

Hiya! I've got a question: If you have just won 7 trainers in a row in Battle Tower, when you exit the building, does the current streak wins erase? ~Thanks~

Edit: I've got the answer. It doesn't erase.

quote
the place i find this might explain not much better.

Every Pokémon that has a gender can be male or female, and that is set by a random value that goes from 0 to 255 (00 to FF in Hex). The value from which the gender goes from female to male is called the gender breakpoint. Most of
the Pokémon have a gender breakpoint of 128, that means the female gender value will have a value from 0 to 127, and male gender value will go from 128 to 255. That also means they have 50% to be male, and 50% to be female. You can
tell a Pokémon's gender breakpoint value by looking at Meowth's site's Pokédex (www.pokefor.tk,then choose "Tools"), and look at the gender percentage of a
Pokémon. Take the female percentage, multiply it by 256, and you'll have the Pokémon's gender breakpoint. For example, you can see from Meowth's Pokédex that Machop has a 24% chance to be a female. 0.24*256=61.44. Round it
down, and you'll have Machop's gender breakpoint value : 61.

By knowing this, you can tell what are you chances of a female Pokémon to be
Mirage Island Friendly by multiplying the gender breakpoint by 256.

Here are some examples :

-Genderless Pokémon (or Pokémon that have always the same gender) will have
1 out of 65536 (256*256) to be Mirage Island Friendly.

-50% Female/ 50% Male Pokémon will have 1 chance out of 32678 (128*256) to
be Mirage Island Friendly if you catch a female.

-24% Female/ 76% Male Pokémon will have 1 chance out of 15616 (61*256) to be
Mirage Island Friendly if you catch a female.

-12% Female/ 88% Male Pokémon will have 1 chance out of 7936 (31*256) to be
Mirage Island Friendly if you catch a female.

This won't give you more chances to get an Mirage Island Friendly Pokémon (chances are always 1 out of 65536), but it'll save you lot of time, because you won't have to catch every Pokémon you encounter and check if they are Mirage Island Friendly. But you'll still have to encounter "65536" Pokémons to find the good one...And remember, only female Pokémon of Pokémon that have a gender, are valuable.
Read the FAQ...there are only Wynauts on Mairage Island.

You can't catch Glalies. The only way to get a Glalie is to catch Snorunt. Snorunt is found in the Shoal Cave...in the icy part.

Abondend Ship is at Route 108.

re: Pokémon 101 (Frequently Asked Questions)

MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION, PLEASE!!!

In case you have ANY questions, and you are clever enough to wander here, before impatiently posting a new thread before reading the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ), then read it! It is on the first page of this thread.

IF your question hasn't been answered in the first page, THEN consider about asking it. Remember, posting a whole new thread isn't just a small thing. One example would be that if you have a couple of questions, DON'T make a new thread for each of them, instead, gather all of 'em in one thread. It is also recommended that you ask any questions you have RIGHT HERE, ONLY if that isn't already answered in the FAQs section.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION!!!

MusiKon's question.

quote MusiKon
i have just read some info on this game, as i have recently got my copy. but one thing that confuses me is the stuff about the Contests. how do they work? and are they necessary to complete the game and/or get certain pokemon?
Contests are not a neccessity when it comes to beating the game, they're just fun to do.

Contests work by first, judging to see how well you've groomed your pokemon ( by using pokeblocks ( which are like candy ) ). Next, you appeal to the judge by performing attacks. Based on how well the attacks go in terms of it's style and appeal ability ( based on 5 different characteristics ) you win points. At the end, the two are mixed and whoever did best overall wins the contest.

As I said before, moves are judged and categorized into 5 different aspects: Beauty, Toughness, Coolness, Cuteness, and Smartness. Depending on which contest you entered, you get more points for performing moves which attribute to the specific attribute. Example: Beauty moves work well in a beauty contest. However, Beauty moves do not go well in a Toughness contest. Make sense?

Anyway, if you have any more questions, just ask me.

re: Pokémon 101 (Frequently Asked Questions)

Well, contests are necessary to beat the game.

If you have 5 paintings in the museum of your Pokémon, you'll get an extra Star on your Trainercard. And you need to beat the contests for that.

Wait, what now? A star? ... that's cool I guess.

Anyway, I have a question: Is it possible to get more than one painting for one type of contest? Ex: Two paintings from beauty contests?
