re: 2D Human characters?

It's alright, haha. We know not everyone has enough time to buy the game when it was released and play it 24/7. That's why we're still suggesting people use Spoiler tags.

re: 2D Human characters?

Well no worries, the things I mentioned above have absolutely no affect on the story. Trust me, the game would be exactly the same whether or not those things happened.

BTW considering you havn't gotten that far, you really can't have much to say on this thread.

re: 2D Human characters?

Hey! I thought I made a decent point on the appeal of the Covenant a couple posts back. I enter discussions on plotline because, having read the books, I know more about the series than most people who've played both Halos multiple times. But, fine then, I'll go.

Well To counter someone else's qoute: Yes, you CAN glamorize a fight for survival. Movies, books, and other video games have done so for years.
To a certain degree, this may be a sci-fi but it isn't stupid. What do you expect everyone to do? Run around non-stop? Movies, they're Holywood...they glamourize everything. Books, they're able to expand far more than games. Other games...it would have been fitting. Halo, however, was a desperate fight for survival. They were pinned in a corner and getting clawed at, so of course that would have been more dramatic than this. Halo 2, the humans are on their own planet with no real sense of being overwhelmed like they were on the ring world, so of course it'll go slower and not as urgent.

quote
In Halo2? I WANTED them to die. The officers and soldiers show as much emotion as a boulder, and react too calmly to everything.
Besides from cinematics, give a few instances of this.

quote
When Miranda and Johnson were captured by Tartarus, I expected SOME sort of reaction, either terror, or bitter hatred, but what did they do or say? Nothing.
What about when she was rescued? Surely she'd have something to say, right? wrong. No reactions. NOTHING.
One, Johnson got knocked out and Keyes was in a tight hold in Tartarus' hands, what did you expect them to do? Keyes may have been on the edge of blacking out or just knew she couldn't escape or didn't want to waste her breath trying when she had nowhere to run to. As for the rescue; Johnson was in the Scarab before you see much of him, and when he did talk it was just right for the moment. Keyes was in the control room getting roughed up by Tartarus, in which she reacted the way anyone else would, too. Really I don't see what's wrong with it at all...

quote
You may recall the scene in the P of A in Halo1, when the crew is reactring to Keye's "Alert Alpha", but was there ANY such reaction in Halo2? Nuh-uh.
Because the ship was getting torn apart and therefore more urgancy was indicated, the Cario was getting boarded...not much happening, you tell me which you'd be more freaked out in.

quote
They had ample opportunity to make use of great situations, but Bungie let those potential moments of fear and anger slide by.
Again, name a few instances of this.

Anyone who hasn't beaten the game by now DOESN'T DESERVE A SPOILER WARNING.
I do hope you're not that dense. Just because people don't play games all day doesn't mean they're any less of a person. Give them some *bleep*ing repect that they have other things going on than Halo 2. People still haven't played or beaten Halo yet, want to bitch at them? Hell, they've had 3 to 4 YEARS, wow! They suck!

Their home world is under attack. In Halo1, and the books the idea of the covenant finding and attacking earth is addressed with terrible fear and apprehension. I'd expect MORE of those feelings when it actually happens. Not LESS.

Cinematics ARE the instances of this. Cinematics are a game's opportunity to show how characters feel and what they're thinking. The blew every chance they had with the humans.

If that's the case, they have to EXPLAIN Keye's state. You can't leave an audience to deduce why they're watching someone showing no emotion!

Actually the Cairo was in MORE danger than the P of A.
Both were being boarded, but the Cairo had a bomb in it as well.

I'm not bitching that people should finish the game quickly! I don't give a damn how long it takes them! I just don't want them to come online weeks after the game was released and bitch when they see spoilers!
