Hmm.. first of all Is halo 2.5 (or halo : championship), not "halo 3" bungie publicly stated they are NOT working on a new halo game. Obviously they are using the same (or a very similar engine) in a diferent platform (xbox 2),the game (according the very sounded xbn "rumor") will be launched along with the xbox 2 THIS year (so Obviously it has to be finished since they can only do beta testing/ironing at this time). The game will only be a slightly (very slightly) modified version of Halo 2 with the eagerly expected finale, nobody knows what exactly it is about, except it has lot to do with new mombasa and that it will actually end this chapter of halo. (dont be silly about the alien invasion thingy the covenant want to destroy the known universe to make the "final trip" or whatever, not conquer earth remember?)

Multiplayer will feature more players and maps (AND VEHICLES possibly the ATV and the new warthog) that werent available in halo2. Graphically speaking although is the same engine, all the effects only possible in the xbox 2 will be enabled (this may include realtime shadows, environment fog, actual hlsl, normal mapping, etc) and the resolution will be a lot higher (in an hdtv or a monitor). Other than that is the same game. (hence is called 2.5 instead of 3)

The reason why ? EASY the xbox 2 is not backwards compatible remember? and MS didnt wanted to leave all xbox 2 enthusiasts without their best seller game ever. (expect ninja gaiden and fable to make an appearence with a .5 too!)

ditto on what wever said. and Xbox 2 isnt coming out this year. i believe that fact's been stated more than 7,295,456,347 times. or somewhere around there.

I think that Halo 3 sounds heaps hard to make but it will be made but be prepared for the unexpected remember with halo 2 every one thought that was going to be the best game ever but it turned out that not everyone liked it my opinion of course was that halo 2 was the best game ever, I play it everyday but nonetheless be prepeared for the unexpected. Halo 3 will be a hit if it's going to be the last game of the trilogy I think it's a bit disapointing that it will be on x-box 2 and not on x-box but I can understand why. Anyway Inside Bungie could you put a link down of the URL that you use to contact bungie and MS. Please keep telling me information because I'm getting too excited for words.

at first i didnt believe this guy but when he talked about how HEH will be making a return, i started to believe him. if this is true, i cant freakin wait for the huge Earth war that we got a hint of in the E3 2003 demo.

The game will be the best like as if it's half life II or something like as if you're in a real war and you're an actual soldier in it just a single soldier but what I want to know is will the game be harder or will it be like the classic halo the one that I used to play every single day and never get bored of. Please post a link asap.

Despite myself, I find this info believable. I really hope you're not yanking our chain with this, or that someone else duped you into taking their word as gospel. Regardless, this stuff is heavy. I absolutely adore the idea of fusing the FPS and RTS genres, and it would be an awesome way for the Halo franchise to go out with a bang. It would be an absolute gaming revolution if done properly. It would also be entirely appropriate for the large-scale battles that would occur during an Earth invasion. However, I also think that it would turn off a lot of gamers that see Halo as simply the pinnacle of the FPS genre.

Maybe Bungie could employ it in their next franchise after Halo. Their influence would guarantee attention and respect for their new venture, and allow them to try something completely unexpected. Also, they wouldn't risk destroying their credibility by altering their opus to such a degree. Although this change in Halo 3 would have an intense, positive affect on the industry, it may alienate Halo's diehard fan base. I'm surprised that it is being so well-received by those who took the time to read the post. (I'm so proud of you all for being open to change!)

I agree that backwards capability is essential to the next-gen Xbox's success. One of the reasons I eagerly purchased a PS2 is because I had bought an N64 rather than a PS1 and liked the idea that I could try all the Playstation games I had missed out on. Since launch titles generally suck, it helps give a new console the push it needs in its early days: a time period during which financial success is critical to both assuring the consumers that the console will be worth their money, and convincing developers to produce titles for the console.

I'm glad to hear that there is a chance that the Master Chief will gain a sprint and a roll/dodge move. It will make the gameplay more realistic and fluid. I've been praying for such options since the first time I played an FPS.

Lastly, I was disappointed by the lack of variation between the playable Elite and the MC. I was expecting some subtle differences--such as height of jumps, speed of shield recharge, pace of gait, etc--and instead it was simply a skin swap. It's a relief to hear that Bungie might include some more specialized character models that will allow players to choose the strategy more suited to them. It will also make large multi-player battles more engaging, since each model will play a significant and specific role. For example, a Hunter would make an excellent choice to guard a flag, and Drones would be good at attempting to retrieve it. Laying out each specialized species strategically would give prepared teams an edge over those who did not know the best way to utilize the varying strengths and weaknesses.

Even if this information turns out to have absolutely no truth behind it, these ideas are well thought-out, realistic, and enlightening. Thanks, bud.
