Skeptical. |
|
I love the first game with a passion. It's one of the most engaging, dramatic, action packed adventures I have ever experienced. (Not to mention scary as *bleep*.) Plus even though the main character hardly ever spoke, I'll never forget the first words heard from him.
"They told me: 'Son, you're special. You were born to do great things. You know what? They were right.' " It's pretty badass. Everything about the game was amazing. I'm somewhat skeptical on the sequel, because it's through the eyes of a Big Daddy. However, I was hoping the use of money and picking up various items such as diaries and ammunition would still be included. The game might also lose its scare-tactics as well seeing as your behind the helmet of a walking death trap. I loved the feeling of isolation and the lonesome moments where it's just you, an average joe against blood-thirsty splicers. Overhearing the twisted conversations always sent shivers down my spine. Will this sequel be anything like the original? ------------------- Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

I assume (and hope) it will.
I mean, you're a Big Daddy but being the first prototype you still have weaknesses. Plus every Splicer is going to be out to get you for the ADAM (and they'll be attacking in groups now for tactics and whatnot), so you're not exactly having the odds tipped in your favor (especially since you've got the other Big Daddies and Big Sister on your ass too). I don't think it will have the same isolated fear factor as the first but I reckon they'll pull of something like it well enough. As for the pickups and money aspects I'm pretty sure they'll still be around; he has to get ammo some way, right? Plus there are still sections of Rapture far from touched, so there are still stories to be told by way of recordings. I dunno. I find it hard not to trust 2K after what they did with Bioshock 1, but all in all we can only speculate right now. ------------------- In my dream there was a disaster. That's a good call. The Big Sisters looks scary as balls. You make some good points about the ammo and the parts of Rapture being untouched.
From some screen shots, it shows human hands commandeering a shotgun. I gather it's an early part of the game? Whatever the case, I can't wait and I hope it's quite lengthy like the first. ------------------- Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

quote Jaw KneeThe beauty of this game is that Rapture is a huge ass city, and there was only part of it explored in the first game. They can add so many more side stories and locations with this game. Basically, there's nothing holding them back as far as adding to Rapture is concerned. Also, there's only 1 Big Sister. quote Jaw KneeI believe that's from the multiplayer, which is set before the downfall of Rapture (When Atlas came to power, New Year's 1959/1960). You play as humans in multiplayer. The multiplayer aspect is kind of like a prequel to Bioshock. ------------------- ![]()

I find it interesting playing as the "Bouncer" Big Daddy (aka Prototype 1). I wonder if the defense of being a "Bouncer" will be stronger against "Rosies" (Prototype 2) and other "Bouncers.

... you're not just a Bouncer, you're an amalgamation of both, hence why you have guns and the drill. You've got the head of a Rosie too, from what I've seen. This was why he was the protoype and, based on him, they created the Rosies and Bouncers.

God, BioShock has such a great story. I see where you're all coming from and I'm leaning towards the better part of it. There are also different sets of ammunition aren't there? I saw "Magnum" in one of the videos.

Well I see the picture of the Prototype 1. It looks cool with a mixture of a Rosie and a Bouncer.

I'm not too skeptical about the game, but I have a question that's been bothering me for some time.
This game is supposed to be a sequal right? The developers said that it takes place 10 years after the original. What is really confusing me is that you play the Prototype Big Daddy, as in the first one ever made. If the story takes place 10 years after Bioshock 1, and there were plenty of Big Daddies already existant, how can you be the first? ------------------- ![]() Would you kindly...

re: Skeptical. |

Easy. The original Big Daddy was simply inactive during the entire time. He was probably deemed ineffective for whatever reason, and 'turned off'; however, 10 years after the events of Bioshock, something happens to 'reactivate' him.
As for the game itself, I admit that at first I was very gung-ho about the game, but now I'm kinda wary. I'll still give the game a chance, but I read an article about how Bioshock 2 was a bad idea, and it had some good points. The main thing is that it's going to be very difficult to re-capture the same feel that Bioshock had, especially since the guy who was responsible for the original story has actually decided that he's not going to be involved in this game. We'll have to see how it turns out. -------------------

Well it's obviously not going to be close to as good as the original. That's pretty much the consensus of the gamers. It really depends on how bad you think it's going to be.
Me? I don't think it'll be bad. It'll a really good game, the story may not be as interesting, but it'll be okay. As for the gameplay, it will have it's ups and downs just like the first one. I was pretty skeptical about the multiplayer, but after seeing how you can customize plasmids and weapons, I became intrigued. Then I say the Capture the Flag mode. Then I knew it was going to be something. My hopes are high for the game, because of the 1st game, but not so high that if it turns out lacking in some areas that it will ruin the game for me. ------------------- ![]() Would you kindly...

I am not going to get to high of hopes, but will appreciate the fact that this game will hopefully won't be too disappointing. Hopefully it can follow through from the original.

I dislike the fact that there are multiple Big Sisters now, I liked the idea of one who'd come and give you hell periodically, and it seemed more in keeping with the plot. There are still the Big Daddies and the Splicer hordes to deal with after all, so I'm a little worried about the plot, but the action looks like it's going to be awesome which will console me a little.
EDIT: Gametrailers plot explanation. So now the plot is you seeking your special little sister? Sounds slightly lame, how often has find the missing kid/wife/lover been done as a game plot device ------------------- ![]()

The Big Sisters sounds kind of strange to me. I think there should only be on and that there are more Little Sisters than there were in the original.
