Naw, the beginning of nine is right when you get out of the elevator in the last room. There are two turrets in the first part of the room along with an assortment of enemies. In the second part of the room is the five conduits and the six (or eight?) scarab pods.

A lot of people have trouble beating Closer[09] so don't feel bad, lol.

Here's a walkthrough:

TIP remember to z-target and jumping helps avoid shots

1. first kill the scientist that is standing at 11:00 when the elevator door opens with your deatomizer mk4, then procede to shoot the turrets on both far corners of the room (they die in one shot but do ALOT of damage)

2. do a clockwise sweep of the first room and eliminate any scientists, just make sure not to be near there dead bodies! they blow up.

3. you can now grab one of your favorite guns or stick with your deathomizer as more scientist continue to walk through the two hallways, try to get some health containers around the room and kill the rest of the scientists.

4. walk through one of the hallways but be aware that two more turrets are on both your left and right (try to kill them asap)

5. when all the scientists are killed you should recieve a checkpoint and you should wait to procede down the stairs until you have regained full health and have the gun of choice (make sure you reload)

6. walk down the steps and you should find that a few mites come down near you, just pick them off (preferably hit the therm-mites before they come within harmful distance)

7. after a few mites, some drones will come out of the conduits, but do not underestimate them! a fully charged strike rifle can kill half your health. so continue to pick off the drones and i find that the computer are good cover, and if you need health you can walk to the side of the entry stairs to find a small burrow with two health packs on both sides.

8. eventually some scarabs will come in, try to kill them by using gernades, but be aware if any med-mites are alive they can heal the other enemies so if you have a weak weapon you should kill the med-mites first.

9. after you kill all the scarabs, drones, mites, and med-mites two storm scarabs (invisable) and a white scarab will come. you CAN kill the storm scarabs without revieling them, but it will be hard to see them and you cannot z-target them, plus using your ASE on them stuns them for a bit.

10. after all of this mr. adams should continue to tell you how the country is more valueable than one city or man and this gives you time for your health to recover.

11. now if you still have SPAS ammo i would take it out now, because you will have to hack the computer terminals to relese the white scarabs (two close range SPAS shots kill a scarab).

12. Even though there is only 2:30 on the clock you can kill them one by one if you hurry.

well now you are done and you have to walk through the conduit and finish the game. i hope that you have enjoyed the game, and i hope that this helped

I've found that using a grenade is much more effective on the first two turrets. Just kill the first enemy that's near the left pillar and nade the turret at the same time, run around to nade the turret on the right and use the spas to take out the closest enemy, then swap out the deatomizer for the strike rifle which is right on your right.

Or, at least, that's my personal preference

I've found that using a grenade is much more effective on the first two turrets. I agree that that would be affective, but turrents are very easy to kill i think, so you don't need a grenade to get them, plus you will want to save your grenades for the scarabs later on, but your way works too
