Apparently, according to online sources (another link here), the spawn glitch has been fixed due to the 4.2 Wii Menu update. I have also heard from MANY sources (do a google search for this one) that it removes the homebrew channel and bricks hacker's Wii's.


So, no more hackers and possibly no more spawn glitch. Assuming the sources are entirely correct, of course.

As for the hackers, I can't say for sure if the menu update fixed that problem, but as for the spawn glitch I think I can safely say it didn't do much. It may have lessened the chance of getting the spawn bug, but it certainly didn't fix it completely as I recently just got it this morning after trying to play The Conduit online (and yes, I did install the update yesterday).

Don't take the 4.2 update, it can brick your wii even if you don't hack.

I believe you usually, Kyoob, but I cannot IMAGINE that Nintendo would brick Wiis just for no reason at all. I got the 4.2 update and from what I've read online, the only people who are complaining are the cheating hackers/homebrew users.

It's a glitch. A simple google search reveals that the update is bricking a lot of Wiis that belong to nonhackers.

Nintendo effed up again, not too shocking, really =/

And that makes it ok? You still lose your wii for a few weeks while you wait for Ninty to send it back to you.

Anyway, as for fixing your Wii at least it is free despite any warranty. Most other companies (Apple and Microsoft especially) would only fix it if you had a warranty and even then you would most likely be forced to pay some kind of $100+ fee just to keep the thing working for another month.
