DC Universe Online Information |
|
Hey all, I thought I would set up an information thread for those of you wanting to find out more about DC Universe Online. First off, DCUO is Sony Online Entertainment's first ever MMORPG for the Playstation 3. The concept of the whole game is that you now have the choice to enter the world of DC and make your own path whether it be fighting along Batman preventing the likes of the Joker from taking over Gothan City to aiding the Joker instead in his insane campaign of terrorism. You create your own hero or villain with a unique list of powers consisting of pretty much every super power you could ever think of. Jim Lee, comic book artist for DC has helped the development of the game by supplying the artwork for all the characters in the game.
![]() Enter the Batcave and help the Batman in his scourge of Gotham City. Here is a link to a load more of screenshots. At this stage many of you will be thinking that it is yet again another standard MMO in which you wait and then strike and then wait and stroke and so forth but in DCUO you will have total control over you character and your commands will be respondant to the buttons you press very similar to any other action game. The two concepts that thrill me the most are: 1. The ability to choose pretty much any power you want including a Batman style set of gadgetery or having super speed. 2. When questing with friends or idly pacing through the cities of Metropolis, Gotham or many more you will randomly encounter your favourite heroes and villains. For instance you could be walking around and suddenly bump into Batman busting a load of bank robbers. However like many decent MMOs there will probably be a monthly fee but one hasn't been announced and if there isn't this game could be a thundering success for DC and SOE. I will keep you update every now and then so please bookmark this thread or visit the forum regularly. Update: First ever gameplay footage looks immense. ------------------- | |

I thought that DCUO was going to be exactly like City of Heroes but apparently not. It will still have a monthly fee i guess but it changes the gameplay so it's in real time and not crappy turnbased like very other MMO (WOW, CoH, Guild Wars and Runescape).

Yeh same here apart from i could cope with a £3 - £5 monthly payment but anything over £5 would mean i wouldn't invest in a subscription especially if the game disc itself costs a hefty fee of £39.99

I would guess that the game disc will cost up to £30 - £35 with a £7 subscription fee per month, which isn't that bad. Probably will have a month free to get you into the game.

i dont know what to make of this game?
im really hyped up about it, but then i realise how much i love games like oblivion. Then i think this is going to be super diferent. for example, will you be able to acquire houses?, i think i read that you can loot bodies which will be good but then will you be able to buy/swap items? i dunno. Maybe the whole Levelling and experience onits system will be there, but i cant help thinking it will be be too plain. For example, you turn on the game and then say you play for 2 hours, in that 2 hours will it be constant missions or quests, or will you be able to do other things like explore, sell, buy? i know there things that maybe a superhero wouldnt do, but for me i think that other than constantly going around dooing quests, What Else Is There To Do?? -------------------
