Best motherboard to buy? |
|
What type of motherboard do any of you recommend for swapping out my old one? My current one is around 6 years old, and it only hold Rambus memory, and has only one processor socket, which is 423 pin.

Honestly. you will probably have to search ebay etc for that, and I severely doubt you will find anything truly great and reasonably priced ------------------- ![]() Guestbook Do it Yourself Forum

I think a good choice would be an ASUS motherboard. It has a fair price, and it does its job, and most of them leave u a lot of space to tune ur processor or ram capabilities.

quotei made the mistake of thinking that the striker was a good mobo (good thing i didnt buy it), but for that much money, you can get yourself 4 Gigabyte mobos that do the same job without the heatpipes, for the price of one striker. going slightly off topic, what about server mobos? would you be able to get more performance out of them for gaming or other high end uses? because i see them with multiple cpu slots, and 6 or more slots for your ram, and wonder if their higher price is worth it. -------------------

It won't work if your P4 is using DDR400 or RDRAM. ------------------- Enermax 460w PSU Asus P5B-E Core 2 Duo e6420 @ 3.0ghz 4GB DDR2 OCZ Platinum @ DDR2 948mhz eVGA 8800GTS 320MB 2xSeagate Barracuda 250GB 7200.10 S-ATAII
