Neomember Linkin Park Fan Blog on God of War 3 |
quote LPFLinkin, since I can't really comment on gamegrep, I'll make a thread here and talk about it. God of War has always been about depicting Greek mythology to it's fullest. God of War 1 set the bar of action titles through it's combat, story telling, CGI or cutscenes(I believe, correct me if i'm wrong DMD, Taker), music...etc. In order to fully have a greek myth game, one would expect to show the gruesomeness of the title. God of War 1 had plenty of that, God of War 2 added on what they had. Phone version iirc had that too since I played it on my sisters phone. PSP also shown this, not as much, but still. The Technology responsible for the more gore-ish, blood spewing, intestines falling out is the zipper technology(technically read it on QJ.net, but this is the source of that article) SMS had acquired for the game. With this title leaping to next generation, one would have expected this to go further. I've also questioned this whether it'll cause a problem with the ESRB rating and whether they'd view it as a AO game. I remember Manhunt 2 having the same problem. But i'm positive SMS and Ready at Dawn will find a way to make sure it doesn't go far beyond the M rating. I'm quite positive, however, what we saw in the demo will be the most gore that'll be implemented. Sure it'll be tweaked or have more additions to it, sure the graphics will be further upgraded and all that when the game release. Do I personally feel they took it too far? As a god of war/mythology fan, I don't believe it's too far although I might be biased here. It's the most logical step to end kratos tale. This game is more towards a mature audience anyway. So I don't expect anyone playing this to be under 17. I don't believe they should either. But to me, as the last Kratos tale and with the power of the PS3, this is the next logical approach. But I do understand where you're coming from though since I had a similar feeling about the gore and if the ESRB would have a issue towards it. The videos that has been shown months ago was severely toned down by the ESRB due to the gore; Epic Scale trailer comes to mind. I think we really saw what the gore has turned into with the playable demo at E3. I do expect some tweaks to the Zipper technology on it, like I said, but I don't personally feel they'll over gore the game though. But, that's just me. Good blog LPF, always nice to read Neomembers views on games. ------------------- Welcome to Crisis Core forum Welcome to Bad Company 2 God of War 3 official forum community

Thanks for posting this and not seeing it early enough. My bad.
You do bring up some good points. I do think that the devs actually wanted this type of gore in the first GOW but were restricted by hardware. Personally I think they are on the line of taking it to far but haven't crossed it. And I dont think Santa Monica want to jump over. I guess in a way it is very interesting, since I never really played a game as gory as GOW3 will be. -------------------
