Figured I'd make this so people can post their impressions about it. That and if they got is at all. I just got mine and am downloading it as I write this. Its 2671mb (around 2.7 gb) so I won't get to play it till later (I'm on lunch break).
I'll post later with my impressions. Chiao. Edit: Okay, so I just finished the demo. A bunch of !!!!! is all I can do to describe my enjoyment of the demo. It was a blast. The graphics made playing the all too familiar GOW gameplay a new experience. It really did. Plus the new flashy moves were so kick ass I just had to keep doing them, even after I killed everyone. The new battering ram move is something I'll have to get used to if I want to utilize it to its fullest. But the grappling move is by far one of the most useful so far. Simply awesome. Everything feels almost exactly the same, but the numerous new moves (Harpy hopping, battering ram, grappling, etc.) give it a whole lot more; gives you more freedom and a greater aray to customize how you want to kick ass. Oh, and the blood! Oh the sweet blood! The gushing from the Cyclope's eye, Helios squirting up out of his neck, the Centaur's guts! OMG! And I didn't even notice Kratos soaked in it until just before I fought the Centaur. I can't wait to see how much more blood can be spilled because if this was just the demo, whats the rest of the game gonna be like!? I hope everyone else can get their hands on this demo ASAP. It really is incredible. And I know you've all seen vids and screenshots and whatnot and think "nah, I've seen this already", but its not the same. You need to play it. I feel this thing will be played to death come March. Oh, and I managed my way through the Icarus vent on my first try. And I only saw the vid of the demo only once. No, right now it can only be accessed through exclusive means. If you buy God of War Collections you'll get a code, if you pre-order God of War 3 Ultimate Edition you'll get the code, and if you signed up on the God of War forums you'll get an email for the code. Also, you could pick up the code by buying a certain movie, I forgot the name, but it's on the disc.
As good as that sounds, Reaver, I'll have to pass on the demo. There's only some games I play the demo for. God of War is a game you need to experience first time through. Demo will just spoil the epicness. Batman Arkhams Asylum was one of the games I passed on the demo, and I *bleep*ing loved it to bits. I will not ruin the enjoyment through hype of the demo I already seen how it looks and that's all I need. Your description alone is enough for me to wait. That and the fact I want too many games to try before the game starts. Surprisingly when it ended I was not upset. When the Batman demo ended I was like "wtf? thats it?" When this demo ended it was just, "wow...this game is gonna kick ass". That was one of the things I really liked. They didn't just end it. They picked a point that is a suitable ending and was really more like an epic gameplay trailer.
But I know a lot of people aren't gonna wanna try this just because its either an unfinished build, or because they want to hold off for the actual game. And I know I'm gonna find differences between the demo and the game already (Kratos runs kinda awkward when he has the blades drawn, double jumping up and grabbing ledges was kinda non-responsive at times) but I just really needed something to wet my beak. I've been itching to play a GOW game lately and I didn't want to pop in either of the first two until I got the collection. This was a suitable substitute. And as for it appearing on the store, I imagine it could become available sometime in February. ------------------- | |

It makes you wonder why other games don't let you disembowel minotaurs.
Just finished the demo. LOVED it. One problem I did have (a problem that won't exist in the full game of course), is that it never tells you what you're supposed to be doing. This is a problem when you're firing the cannon thing. It seems like it just continually misses, but there's no way to aim it. And you don't even know what you're shooting at, because you don't know the story or who the bad guy is. And then you try to get the timing perfect to hit Helios or whoever he is, flying around, and it just misses...so you think that's not your goal, but it is. :\ This message was edited by Ville_Valo on Nov 03 2009. ------------------- | |

Thats funny. I didn't know what I nwas doing either. Guess I didn't complain about it because I happened to hit him by accident. Just barely too. But you do have a point. It would have been helpful. I'm sure in the actual game it will let you know though. There really wasn't much dialogue in the game outside of the grunts and screaming.

Good Demo. Agree with the double jump response a little too non-responsive. And i believe the demo is in 720p. Thats what my tele prompted when it loaded and it always prompts 720p or 1080p. If so, the 720p was kick a**, wait til the 1080p!

Well it's a demo guys. what did you expect? especially since it's been shown to us back in E3. Uncharted 1 demo was the same exact thing. It picked a part in chapter 4 and you had no idea what was going on prior to that point but you started killing enemies. That's why I don't want to play the demo, I know what the demo was about. I've seen it all. Playing the actual, full, gold retail game is going to be monstrous.

I played it again last night and noticed the option to shimmy across ledges quickly (move the right stick). Very handy.

Or you could just reserve the Ultimate Edition, then when you get the code you could cancel it [if you didn't want it].
Or you could just wait till next week and get it w/ the GOW Collection. Either way, come next week, it will be a lot more wide spread than it has been. ------------------- | |
