Specialization Trainers or books. |
|
Considering that you need to find one before you can train each one I thought it might be good to pool our experience together in order to figure out where each is.
Here's what I've found so far: Warrior: Templar: Alistair can teach it or there's a book sold by the Dwarf merchant at the camp. Beserker: Don't know for certain, but seeing as Oghren is one I'm assuming he can teach it. Mage: Shapeshifter: Morrigan teaches it. Spirit Healer: A book sold by Levi if you have the Warden's Keep DLC Wynne teaches it. Blood Mage: During the quest in Redcliff Castle- Rogue: Bard: Lelianna teaches it. Ranger: Dwarf in camp sells a book. Duelist: Isabella in the Pearl in Denerim teaches you, but first you have to win in a game against her. There are various ways to win, but with lvl 3 stealing I chose to shuffle and then palmed some good cards while doing so. Assassin: Zevran Teaches it. That's all I've found so far. If anyone has found any others please share. In particular I'm interested in finding out how to become a Reaver. -------------------

I found Arcane warrior. During the Dalish quest in the ruins you find a phylactory(spelling?) If you speak to the spirit inside it asks you to do something, you can ask it to teach you Arcane Warrior for Mages before you do the task it asks.

Here's what the guide has to say about locating the different Specializations.

For Blood Mage, I think you can get it from Kolgrim during the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest while exploring the Ruined Temple. It will be near the end, sounds like you can either kill him and continue on for the ashes or perform a quest (put blood on the ashes) and come back to learn Blood Magic, but that could be a trap.

re: Specialization Trainers or books. |

I have some clarifications to make on a few of the Specializations.
1. It appears that the Blood Mage can only be aquired by a PC Mage. I had both Morrigan and Wynn in my party, and sent first one and then the other into the Fade to try to earn the specialization. However, each refused to talk to the demon, and I was forced to fight it. It therefore appears that only the PC can actually have a full conversation with the Demon, and the only way the PC can get into the Fade is if they're a Mage. Also, in order to have the option of going into the Fade, you have to allow Jowan to live, and have him perform the Blood Magic ceremony. Alternately, if you've done the Broken Circle quest and used the Litany of Andralla during the Boss Fight, you can go to the Circle of the Magi and have Irving and the other Mage's perform a ritual that will send you into the Fade without killing anyone. However, I'm unsure if this still restricts the PC in question to being a Mage, or if it allows anyone to go in. I'll be finding out, but it will take me some time. 2. For the Reaver Specialization, I recommend that once you gain access to the Mountaintop, you turn around and make your way back to the World Map, then go to the Party Camp. Turn around and head back to the Ruined Temple, but make sure that Leliana and Wynn aren't in your party. They both take offense if you defile the Urn, and will try to kill you. At the same time, you have to face off against the Guardian and 2 Dust Wraiths. When I did that fight, it ended up being me and Morrigan versus the Guardian, 2 Dust Wraiths, Wynn, and Leliana. I only managed to do it by putting the game on Casual for the duration of the fight. 3. The Champion Specialization can be missed if you choose the wrong conversation option. To get it, when asked by the Arl of Redcliffe if you'll allow him to reward you, say, 'If you want to'. Other options will cause you to miss the Specialization. Those are the only corrections I can think of at the moment, but if I come up with more, I'll mention them. -------------------

Having the Circle send someone into the fade still restricts it to Mages, so if the PC is a rogue or a warrior, you will still be unable to enter the fade.

So there is a specific thing you have to say to Arl Eamon to learn a specialization. Are there other specific things to say to Alistair or Leiliana to learn theirs? Does anyone know where I can find the rogue specializations like duelist or ranger?

Wynne doesn't teach Spirit Healer, it's only available by purchasing the manual.

Krantos;
I did read the previous entries. I was hoping to learn them for free. Also I asked another question as well and that was: are there any specific conversation options I need to pick to learn the skills. I don't want to find out I lost my chance to learn because I chose the wrong response. If you are feeling 'shirty' I suggest you refrain from responding to others until you feel up to being nice.

quote Oracle_ThunderIn the case of party members, just get them to like you. When their approval rating is high enough they'll teach, although Orrah says that doesn't work for Wynne. So yeah, experiment with chat and give gifts. ------------------- ![]()

re: Specialization Trainers or books. |
quote Oracle_ThunderFor the Duelist, go to the Denerim Market District and talk to Kylon next to Wade's Emporium. Offer to help him, and he'll send you to the Pearl to get rid of some mercenaries. This is required simply because it unlocks the Pearl as a destination on the City Map. Once you get to the Pearl, look for a woman who is attacked by several men. She'll beat them and they'll run off. Talk to her and ask her to teach you, and she'll offer to do so, but only if you can beat her at a game. Basically, she's cheating, and you have to catch her doing so by passing a DEX check. If you don't have enough DEX, but someone in your party does have enough, they'll eventually offer to help you out if you keep losing, so Warriors or Mage's can still unlock the Specialization, even if they can't use it themselves. I therefore recommend that you have Leliana or Zevran in your party when you talk to her. As for the Ranger, there is no other way to learn it; you have to buy it. However, if you're willing to cheat, you can do so for free. Basically, save before talking to Bohdan, then sell whatever you need to get the Ranger Tome. Buy it, then leave the shop screen, and you'll see the 'Specialization Unlocked' message. Immediately load the save you just made, and you'll still have the specialization unlocked, but since you just saved before actually buying it, you will still have the money you spent, and you'll find that the book has disappeared from Bohdan's stock. -------------------

I am a Berserker and am wondering if Reaver is a good 2nd specialization, but it sounds kind of risky.
Has anyone tried Reaver and is it any good? Plus my party is basically Me, Alistair, Morrigann, and Leliana. And it could cost me my Rogue who I have at top lockpicking (Leliana), also I have been having her use twin swords which might be kinda stupid, but maybe not broken. Would becoming a Reaver be a bigger problem then Alistair's reaction to the Blood Ritual in Redcliffe? And I still want to know if Reaver is that great anyway, & what makes a great reaver? maybe I just won't even have it as an option. ------------------- "Pain is candy for the focused mind."--Bobby Hobbes "Murder is a crime... unless your a corporation."--Me
