This would be the place to talk about the New Weapons they have made.

So far we have seen.

Cao Pi with a new sword.
Ma Chao with a huge sword.
Ling Tong with a Staff thing
Zhang He with his old claws back.


So lets discuss who else we think will get new weapons.

I'm not a fan of weapon switching. I think the characters should just keep their weapons...

Well the only weapon I approve of is Ling Tong's. Zhang He's is alright. I always enjoyed his claws but his spear was pretty good.

I haven't been able to use Ling Tong because of my not having any other DW games above 4, but I do like the look of his staff.

I'm actually a big fan of Zhang He. Sure, he is a bit fruity, but I love the claws.

Yeah Zhang He's always been one of my favorites. And Ling Tong destroyed in DW5 super quick guy. Hopefully they keep that in here.

I liked zhang he's spear two thugh if he kept it he would share movesets with taishi ci.
i think zhen ji should have her flute

I may not like it as much as you guys but I'm comfortable with Zhang He getting his cheeky claws back.

At first, I was disappointed by the return of old weapons. I was thinking Koei could get lazy and just assign the old DW5 attack patterns. But no, looking at these screenshots it looks like Taishi Ci and Zhang He have learned some new moves for their familiar weapons.

Now I wonder if Yue Ying will complete this theme of returning weapons and get her Oblivion back...

Different, right?

That's right folks, Yue Ying now has a crossbow affixed to her right forearm. Having this will hopefully prove that characters with similar weapons can be very different (no longer a SSX clone!) given the opportunity.

Now the big question remains: Will there be another character in two weeks or was IGN speaking the truth? Will only six character's be cured of clone-itis?

Im pretty sure Ling Tong is using nun chaku, not a staff.

On the contrary, Ling Tong wields a samjiegun:



samjiegun = Chinese
sansetsukon = Japanese
three section staff = English

It is similar to the nunchaku (a.k.a. the gerjiegun, the two-sectioned staff), Ling Tong's DW5 weapon, but it has one more segment and is handled a bit differently. Right family of weapons though.

this is a must see moveset for yue ying. cross bow attached to her arm...

I wonder about her story too. Hopefully it isn't a tag-along of Zhuge Liang's path. Perhaps a storyline about her using her sharp, inventive mind to save Shu from destruction... and investigate the mysterious disappearance of Jiang Wei
