My Gaia, here we go again...
Anyway, I agree Ros. I preferred Parasite Eve 2 over it's predecessor, and I also concur that Aya is quite tomboyish. I don't think much will have changed, although it will be interesting to see the perspective of a 35 year old woman living in a 20 year old woman's body. I wonder if she'll be sarcastic and bitter? I hope so!! -------------------

Maybe it's just me, but last time I checked, GD threads in unmoderated forums (sans a section mods explicit permission and observance) were a no-no. WTF people? I miss something?

General on-topic discussions are allowed, as long as they discuss the game. And at the moment there isn't much info on this game, so it can all be discussed in the one thread.
Off-topic discussions aren't allowed. -------------------

Actually, they're permitted by the section mod if no direct forum mod is assigned. In this case, Eureka - any GD that's created need to be watched over by somebody. He shouldn't have problems in this case, since other mods are participating. GD policy is one that is pretty confusing, to say the least.
Just noticed there were two forums for this game, might need merging. Well, on the subject of the game - I'm a bit dissapointed that this isn't going to be on the PS3, or even PS2 (though it could be on the PS2 given PSP games are easily up-ported to the PS2). Square isn't the same company it was when the original, even the sequel, were released, so it's not too surprising. Last I recall, the second game ended with Mr. Heroguy McLoveinterest taking a hike and leaving a Dear Jane letter for Aya. Can't recall the plot too much - aside from some gunblade carrying mofo running around chasing Aya around at times, and the poor decision to nix the regenerating PE bar. And something about a giant baby and a hotel. Just might have to port that to my PSP and give it another go. This message was edited by Raijin1999 on Oct 29 2008. ------------------- ![]()

To be honest, I'm actually not bothered that it's not on a home console. The way I see, The 3rd Birthday is a way for Square Enix to test the market and see if it's worthwhile reviving the series on a console.
Hopefully yes. ------------------- ![]() How to snag a lady: With sleepy drink.

Parasite Eve probably got lost in the transition from the PS1 to PS2 and in the Square/Enix merger, the team probably all moved on to other projects and they've only just now decided "Hey, should we give this a go, again?"
That's like saying "Why did they wait 7 years to announce a sequel to Final Fantasy VII", really. ------------------- ![]() How to snag a lady: With sleepy drink.

Lack of interest and sales were paling on comparison to their other titles. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't that great. Also, the type of game that it was, it took a lot of time to create the environs and such, similar looking environs that were being tossed into their latest FF's of the time. 2 and 2 together, just focus on the big seller. Bushido Blade was another series lost in transition (more like dumped). I believe they also published Tobal#1, as well as Ehrgeiz, both which showed a lot of potential. Nothing came of them. (Though from Square's encounter with Dream Factory on the Ehrgeiz game, they did test the waters with The Bouncer).
That didn't prove too well. It wasn't horrible, but still wasn't that great. They once again applied the advancement in visual effects elsewhere. But by this time, the company was going through some pretty rough times; they didn't really have a choice at that point. ------------------- ![]()

quote Raijin1999this is wrong actually. Bushido Blade developers (Light Weight studio) left Squaresoft after the second game (kinda like the devs behind the original Medal of Honor left EA) and continued making games under Genki. Kengo - Master of bushido was the spiritual successor for BB.

Orly? Square owned them?
In any case, at least they went on to do something really cool - I owned Kengo. Series never really took off here, but they did make sequels in Japan. In any case, Square still holds the rights to the series - yet it stays dead. They could always bug Dream Factory. ------------------- ![]()

The DKS3713 trailer for The 3rd Birthday will be included on a DVD accompanying a special Final Fantasy XIII magazine published by Enterbrain (publisher of the Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu), to be released on the 13th of December.
It will be the first trailer to be publicly released for the game. For those that need a refresh, DKS3713 was an invitation-only event held by Square Enix earlier this year. The trailer shown was not the later one leaked from the Tokyo Game Show. It is instead the wedding one. IGN posted impression of the trailer to be included on the DVD. quote ------------------- ![]() How to snag a lady: With sleepy drink.

That is an epic trailer but the wedding ring is rather too loose or no one was wearing it at the time.
