It takes place
Also, it's not Overdrive, it's Overdive, which to me sounds a helluva lot cooler and erases my thoughts of FFX. ------------------- ![]() How to snag a lady: With sleepy drink.

Yes, Overdive, scans confirm it.
Eve might not even be present. I wouldn't be surprised if she isn't even mentioned. The lack of Parasite Eve in the title, the shifting of focus from NMCs to Twisted as enemies, and the title being explained in regards to Aya leads me to believe that, although it seems to be following on from the last two games, it's very much its own separate entity focusing on developing Aya beyond the whole "hardcore woman with a gun killing monsters" idea. Aya might just become my favourite Square character after this game. Tabata's idea of a cool, mature woman is really fascinating and it's not really a theme that's explored deeply enough in the current entertainment available. It's not that these characters don't exist, but they're often just off to the side and never really the focus of anything. Any time you have a main character like that, she's often ridiculously shallow and you find that the lacklustre character is being compensated for with other ridiculously shallow things. But T3B is going about it a different way. Rather than covering up a weak character with "ohai, GUNZ!", Aya finally has a chance to just settle down and be a woman, not some action/horror movie star running about in tiny clothes and saving the world. That's just the sweet side dish. ... I hope. Not to mention, as much as I dislike him as a person based on his interviews, as a director, and recently as a character designer, it's just nice to see Nomura doing a relatively simple and realistic design as opposed to what he usually does. I mean, one belt. That's just astounding for him. [size=1][color=#666666]This message was edited by Shuyu on Jan 13 2009. ------------------- ![]() How to snag a lady: With sleepy drink.

In the trailer, the narrator distinctly says "oobaadaibu". For it to be Overdrive, he would have to say "oobaadoraibu". Looks similar enough in writing, but hearing someone say it, there's a clear difference. And I don't think Square Enix would allow... ... That came from CLOUD, I think... I don't think Square Enix would allow Mediaworks to make a mistake like that.
I just found an interview with Motomu Toriyama. He says Overdive. So yeah, I'll stick with what the scenario writer says, thanks. ![]() Yuna was never cool. Brady's guides are known for errors. Famitsu are not.
Nice to know some people just can't admit when they're wrong. Argue with the text all you want, you can't argue with the narration that Square Enix recorded. Even arguing with the text is moronic. Two competing publishers making the exact same mistake? I doubt it. Official guides don't mean anything anyway. I doubt Square Enix America (because there is actually a difference between Square Enix America and Square Enix Japan) actually sends someone out to the unaffiliated company to proofread, that's not their job. ------------------- ![]() How to snag a lady: With sleepy drink.

From a female's point of view, most of the girls I know have plans to get married and have children in their 20s. Probably down towards the 30 end of the scale, but most of them don't want to wait until their in the latter half of their life. In fact, the only women I know who are older than 30 and aren't married happen to like other women, so they kind of can't get married.
The way I see it, Aya's probably made offing NMCs her purpose, and since they're declining, there's not much for her to do BUT go out, meet a guy and get married. She probably welcomes the opportunity to do so. At the same time, returning to a normal life is probably hard to her, especially if there's a man involved. "So yeah, I can do things" doesn't strike me as the sort of conversation to ever pop up during the course of a relationship. But I actually sort of agree with you. The original choice to develop the game on mobile phones shows that they did start off thinking of purely the Japanese audience. Of course, then they remembered that the first two games were released outside of Japan and realised that there was probably still a fanbase and money to be had, and so made it more likely that a release outside of Japan for The 3rd Birthday would happen. ------------------- ![]() How to snag a lady: With sleepy drink.

But that doesn't change the fact that they were originally thinking solely of the Japanese market, whether the technology was there or not.

Well it is what I said, but I should have left off the stuff about transferring the project to the PSP. Because you're right, the technology wasn't there for either of their... rather ambitious projects, so for the sake of being able to actually get the games out their and make money of them, they moved them.
