I went for Urwa Reds in the end cos im a pussy.
Bought quite a few players (started with 6.5M but asked for more and got 5M more). Largest transfers were Razvan Ochirossi (sp) for 1M and Uchida (Right back) for 4M. I also signed a few experienced Japanese back-up players as the squad is a little thin. Had a terrific pre-season, only loss (or for that matter result that wasn't a win) was 2-1 vs Bayern where i dominated first half, and had a good 8-0 win. 3 games into the season i have won all (including a 3-0 win over Antlers) without conceding a goal, and im sitting pretty at the top of the table.

Nice work on starting your first game as the Japanese Chelski.
I'm glad that you're getting on so well though, Uchida should be an excellent player for you and he can learn a lot from Yamada. Buying reserve players, especially from JL2 and foreign based Japanese players is a good idea as well since the squads are a little thin to be sure...but I challenge you people to create hundreds of players from scratch.

I went for Urawa also.
Great start to the season. Sitting 1st after 5 wins from 6. Here are my transfers I asked the board for money money and that gave me £10m to spend on new players. Taniguchi has been immense so far, with 6 in 5 games. Do I get a by to the Quarters of the Champions League or something cos I was asked to submit a squad but I'm not in the group stages. Also, there are only 12 teams in the league cup and I'm not one of them.

Aye, Urawa had a bye until the knockout rounds as past champion under the old format. So just bide your time, jj.
And I think that you have a bye in the Nabisco Cup too along with Antlers but I could be mistaken. Massive transfers, by the by, are there any good players that you didn't buy?

quote winger7I explained that in the first post, there's a way around that but I'd still be making the database when FM 2011 came out. If you want more accuracy you can make it yourself.

quote constantplanckI just bought the best I could. A little tip though, load all players from Japan. I haven't and I'm missing a certain someone. I am playing a 4-3-3 with Junior, Taniguchi and Takahara/Tanaka up top. I have 3 immense centre backs so I'm having to rotate them. All teams in Japan seem to play a 3-4-3 or 3-5-2. My strike force destroys their 3 defenders though

Good tip, jj. Getting every Japanese eligible player is important with the foreigner restrictions. Loading up the MLS and Brazilian leagues are good ideas too. A lot of Brazilians have Japanese citizenship options.
The weird thing about J-League football is how many formations that they employ and how seriously they take positional flexibility so I'm glad that its reflecting real life. Clearly they didn't get the memo about keeping the same tactic all season to increase squad performance. And don't forget to keep checking back on the first page to follow along with the guide. We're up to 9 clubs now, only five more JL1 clubs to go, and there are some useful player recommendations in there.

Does the J-League have the top 6 playoff irl or is it just the K-League? Because I was thinking that 6th place could actually end up as champions!
Are you playing it atm CP?

No, thats a K-League only thing but I decided to tolerate it because there aren't any other Asian competitions without bottom tier relegation. So its not perfectly realistic but at least its interesting.
I'm going to be getting started with a game next week most likely with Grampus or JEF...I'm going on mini-holiday for the weekend though so I'm making finishing the guide a priority before I leave. Help everyone else first.

quote The_ChaserEddy Bosnar! He even featured in one game for Everton before they determined that he was a little slow to get from one place to another. JEF has a great youth set up so you should do well, just feed Seiichiro Maki.

Yep and I'm buying another Australian Tando Velaphi, a young talented goalie with Japanese citizenship.
I've also found a good regen with good tecnical and speed stats.

Eddie Bosnar! He used to have a good free kick on him, but that was about it. Didn't he go to Holland after us?
Anyway, I'm having a good look around and the database is superb. You've done a great job. ------------------- *Insert Sig Here*
