[J-League Database] New Graphics update! J-League 1 Database completed! And J-League 1 Guide!

Friends, have you grown tired of playing the same English, Scottish, and Italian leagues over and over again? If you manage Man City one more time do you think that your head is going to explode? Do you hunger for new and exciting challenges? If you answered yes to any of these questions I'm afraid that you have the summertime FM blues.

Fortunately there is a cure and its called Japanese League management.

Now I can hear you asking, "But cp, the J-League isn't on my copy of FM?"

And you're correct, fine sir or madam, the J-League isn't on your game. But what if I told you that it could be with one simple click? And not only that, what if I also told you that you could have all of the graphics in one simple step as well?

Madness?

You bet, but just the sort of madness that I specialize in.

So how much would you be willing to pay for such a miracle? 50 quid? 75 quid? Perhaps even one hundred quid?

No, no, no.

Because today, on this one time special offer, you can download both the complete JL1 database, a mostly complete JL2 database AND the complete graphics pack including badges, kits, and backgrounds for the low, low price of absolutely nothing!

Just click here to download the latest graphics.

And click here to download the latest database.

Its just that easy.

So call now, operators are standing by.

Edit - It's a good idea to download the db before you download the graphics in case rapidshare feels like limiting your downloads. Just a heads up.

Double edit - Here's the latest graphics expansion pack.

re: [J-League Database] New Graphics update! J-League 1 Database completed! And J-League 1 Guide!

Sorry to double post but some people might crave actual details about the project so they are as follows...

14 teams have been placed in the Korean League. They are JL1 and those clubs are complete and have custom kits designed specifically for this project by Dec whose work is magnificent. If you haven't checked out his thread I highly recommend that you do so here. Dec's kit thread

14 more clubs make up JL2, these are varying degrees of complete but you certainly can manage down there if you so choose. Many of them have custom kits as well and the ones that do not will be added later in additional downloads. I also might get to rounding out those rosters someday when I'm not burned out on making databases.

Cups and continental qualification all work, the only minor detail is that it will sometimes say South Korea instead of Japan...just pay that no mind.

You can also now manage as the Japanese national team and you'll have a very deep pool of players from which to choose.

The K-League hasn't been banished from the game, its merely been swapped out with the old J-League, so those teams are still on the game and are still rivals in the Asian Champions' League.

Also, even if you don't want to manage in the J-League you should still download the graphics pack since it will work even if the database isn't loaded. And who doesn't love more badges?

Cheers for uploading, might try this.

Btw, i don't know a lot about the J-League, so who would you say are the best teams? I would like an easier game to start me of. Thanks.
Funny that you should mention that, WF, I'm in the process of making up a handy guide for newbies right now. It possibly could be up tonight but much more likely it will be completed tomorrow. If you want to get started before the guide is finished though the easiest game is probably Urawa followed by Antlers and Gamba. On the other end, Montedio is the most difficult in JL1 and Mito Holly Hock is for only the finest FM managers since your pitch is essentially someone's back yard.

And I can certainly upload that for you, Dec. You deserve the traffic boost for the work that you did on the kits.

Kashima Antlers
Media Prediction: 1st
Budget:2.2 million

The most decorated clubs in the J-League's short history, Kashima Antlers pride themselves on squad harmony and developing from within. If you fancy a game where success is your only option and you enjoy building a squad and keeping them together, Antlers are the game for you.

Key players

Marquinhos - One of the few players not developed from within, Marquinhos is a powerful target man who excels with the ball at his feet. The reigning player of the year is almost impossible to dispossess due to his massive strength and balance stats.

Mitsuo Ogasawara - A mercurial playmaker whose skill on the ball and creative zeal is unmatched in the J-League, Ogasawara can make magic happen out of nothing and often does just that.

Toru Araiba - There are better players on Antlers but none of them represent what the club is all about moreso than Araiba. A tireless worker who will line up anywhere on the pitch that he's needed, Araiba will not quit until victory is secured.

Just holding my place for the rest of the guide but I thought that I'd get the ball rolling and help Wednesday Fanatic out beside. These aren't easy to make so don't expect them too rapidly. Also, if anyone starts a game with a club and feels like adding to the guide be my guest and follow this handy template.

Which, I might add, I stole from Huzzer.

re: [J-League Database] New Graphics update! J-League 1 Database completed! And J-League 1 Guide!

Urawa Red Diamonds
Media Prediction: 2nd
Budget: 6.5-7.25 million

No one else in the J-League can match Urawa pound for pound but that hasn't always brought them success. Even with a club studded with Japanese internationals and talented Brazilians the Red Diamonds have only managed to win the league once. Perhaps you can do better? If you want a game where you are going to be expected to spend your way to the top there's no better bet in the J-League than Urawa.

Key Players

Tulio - Tulio is a fixture on the Japanese national team and is a Urawa legend. A five time J-League 11 performer and former player of the year he gives Urawa playmaking and consistency from a variety of positions.

Robson Ponte - The former Leverkusen man still has plenty of petrol left in his tank, he'll be a consistent terror from set pieces as well as a valuable ball winner in the midfield.

Nobuhisa Yamada - Mr Red Diamond himself, Nobuhisa Yamada is not merely a legendary figurehead. His bombing runs down the right flank strike terror into the stoutest of defenses and his mere presence on the pitch can always serve to rally the men.

Gamba Osaka
Media Prediction: 3rd
Budget: 3.1-3.5 million

Gamba Osaka had a fairly nondescript history until very recently but since winning the league in 2005 they have never finished outside of the top 3. Not afraid to go out and spend on foreigners Gamba is always looking to strengthen their veteran club and topple the other legs of the Big 3. If you fancy a game as the powerful outsider then Gamba is the game for you.

Key Players

Yasuhito Endo - You may be able to question his fitness but you simply cannot question his talent, Endo is most likely the single most skilled player in the entire J-League. Equally comfortable playmaking and defending he is the perfect Pirlo type to build your club around.

Leandro - A predatory young Brazilian, Leandro has never met an opportunity that he cannot slot into a corner just beyond the reach of the frustrated keeper. A natural poacher, he bounced around the lower J-League before finally landing on the largest of stages.

Hideo Hashimoto - A crowd favorite at the Expo '70 Stadium, Hashimoto is a tireless ball hawk in the center of the park. What people often fail to notice, though, is his ability to distribute it once he wins it. A perfect partner for Endo.

Yokohama F Marinos
Media Prediction: 4th
Budget: 3.8-5.25 million

Yokohama F Marinos are a proud club with three league titles to their credit and they also possesses the deepest pocketbook this side of the Reds. That said the media prediction of 4th might be a bit optimistic, they're unquestionably strong in the back but sturdy defense alone cannot gain you continental qualification. If you like a veteran backline, F Marinos are the club that you should take.

Key Players

Yuji Nakazawa - "The Bomber" is the best center back in the J-League and he can prove it by showing you his 5 Best 11 awards, his young player of the year award, or his player of the year trophy. A commanding center back, he controls everything in the air.

Naoki Matsuda - The hardman Matsuda is Nakazawa's longtime partner in the back and has a bit of a reputation for playing at the edge of the rules. Never the less, Matsuda is a consummate professional and will make an excellent captain for your side.

Kazuma Watanabe - The wonderkid Watanabe has only made his debut in the J-League this season but he already established himself as F Marino's best offensive weapon. With good size and lethal pace Watanabe has future star written all over him.

Jubilo Iwata
Media Prediction: 5th
Budget: 2.5-3.4 million

Jubilo Iwata is a club with a proud history but little recent success to show for all of their spending. Buying expensive foreign strikers has led to a glut of goals but a very thin backline and even getting to the media prediction of 5th could be a task. If you want to try and outscore your opposition 5-3 every match, Jubilo is for you.

Key Players

Lee Keun-Ho - A revelation since joining Jubilo, Lee has scored some true wonder goals for the Flycatchers. Extremely comfortable in the area, Lee has a knack for turning up in the right place at the right time.

Gilsinho - The young Brazilian loves to run at the defense and force the action. Gilsinho is an ideal partner for Lee because the havoc that Gilsinho can create with the ball at his feet leads to easy opportunities for his strike partner.

Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi - The flamboyant veteran keeper may have lost a step physically but he's still excellent at his job. He organizes a defense very well and is still capable of the acrobatic save when called upon. His 116 caps for the national side puts him in second place on the Japanese all time list.

Nagoya Grampus
Media Prediction: 6th
Budget: 4.4-6.25 million

As Arsene Wenger and Gary Lineker's former club, Nagoya Grampus has a long history of looking overseas for talent and has won two prestigious Emperor's Cups with this policy. The new management though is hungry for more and buoyed by their Toyota sponsorship money they will stop at nothing to reach the top. If you want a midtable club with bigger aspirations you should manage Grampus.

Key Players

Davi - The powerful Brazilian is one of the leading goal scorers in the J-League. Quick and powerful, he specializes in crashing from outside of the area and getting on the end of crosses.

Naoshi Nakamura - Often compared to his Shunsuke Nakamura for their similar names and playing styles, Naoshi is a skilled playmaker in his own right. A marvelous dribbler and strong on set pieces, Nakamura is talented enough to lead any attack.

Seigo Narazaki - A club legend, Narazaki is the premier keeper in the J-League. With four Best 11 awards to his credit, only one other keeper in league history has even won 2, Narazaki can be counted on to be the spine of an excellent defense.

Kyoto Sanga
Media Prediction: 7th
Budget: 2.8-4 million

Kyoto Sanga hold the J-League record for most times relegated at three but in spite of that they have also had a notable measure of success. The former club of Park Ji-Sung has an Emporer's Cup to their credit and this season they sit 8th in the J-League table. If you want to build your way to club legend status but also want to take over a club on the right path, you should consider managing Sanga.

Key Players

Atsushi Yanagisawa - A unique type of player, Yanagisawa is a famously poor finisher in front of goal but is also one of the best providers in the entire J-League. A recent addition to Sanga after a failed spell in Italy a wise manager would do well to run his attack through him.

Tatsuya Masushima - One of the most promising young defenders in Japan, Masushima is a physical specimen in the back. Pacey and a phenomenal leaper, Masushima helps cover for his teammate's mistakes.

Lee Jung-Soo - A Korean international, Lee provides a versatile option for either the center of the defense or out wide on the left wing. Aggressive and brave, he won't back down from any challenge.

Sanfrecce Hiroshima
Media Prediction: 8th
Budget: 2.3-3.2 million

Sanfrecce Hiroshima is one of the oldest football clubs in Japan, tracing their history back to the 1930s. Since the formation of the J-League though the Purple Archers' main claim to fame is that they haven't met a competition that they can't finish runner up in, they hold no major trophies in spite of their 6 2nd place finishes in various competitions. If you fancy playing as the perpetual underachiever and finally leading them to glory, play as Sanfrecce.

Key Players

Hisato Sato - A tireless worker with a deft first touch, regular national team player Sato is Sanfrecce's best offensive weapon.

Kazuyuki Morisaki - Playing alongside of his twin brother Koji, the former young player of the year can play anywhere through the center of the park or out wide on the right but does his best work as a holding midfielder.

Yosuke Kashiwagi - Kashiwagi is an excellent prospect for the future as his pace and creativity from the left wing is a rare and dangerous commodity.

Kawasaki Frontale
Media Prediction: 9th
Budget: 2.4-3.7 million

Kawasaki Frontale has moved steadily up the table since their early days in JL2 progressing all of the way to the quarterfinals of the Asian Champions' League. Possessors of a devastating attack. Frontale is your classic attack, attack, and attack some more pressure style club. If you want to spend your time in the opposition's end racking up goals, take charge of Frontale.

Key Players

Juninho - The former Palmeiras man has been unstoppable since moving to Japan scoring an astounding 135 goals in only 6 seasons. Do not let his increasing age fool you, he's still one of the most capable and feared strikers in all of Japan.

Shuhei Terada - No one has a better mental approach to the sport of football than the veteran DMC Terada. If you are able to keep him off of the training table and on the pitch the results will take care of themselves.

Hiroyuki Taniguchi - One of the top young attacking midfielders in the J-League today, Taniguchi is capable of scoring in a variety of ways from the midfield. With his ability in the air and his blistering shots he'll make the most out of his opportunities to score.

Shimizu S-Pulse
Media Prediction: 10th
Budget: 1.9-3 million

One of Japan's proudest and best supported clubs, S-Pulse has lifted their fair share of hardware but the League title has always narrowly eluded them; once even losing on the J-League's now defunct (and somewhat ridiculous) penalty shootout on the season's final day. If you want to manage in front of Japan's most rabid football supporters, you should definitely give S-Pulse a go.

Key Players

Shingi Okazaki - A nimble young striker who figures to have a prominent role on the national team in the future, Okazaki possesses an excellent ability to control any ball.

Frode Johnsen - Big, physical, and just a little surly the former Norwegian international Johnsen can line up either at center back or at striker. He's a force to be reckoned with in the air, just don't make him run about too much.

Jungo Fujimoto - Shimizu's number 10, Fujimoto's trademark thunderbolts from the midfield earned him the young player of the year award in 2006. The best course of action with him is to tell him to shoot long often.

FC Tokyo
Media Prediction: 11th
Budget: 1.3-2 million

FC Tokyo is one of the newer J-League clubs, having been founded only in 1999, but with Tokyo Verdy falling on hard times FC Tokyo finds itself standing alone as the top club in the world's largest metropolitan area. With a good squad already at your disposal and a strong supporter section behind you the sky is truly the limit for how far you can climb with the Capitol City Blues.

Key Players

Naohiro Ishikawa - Ishikawa is a skilled and patient player who can be deployed either in the center midfield or up front. No matter where you choose to play him though his cool demeanor and technical skills will marshal your attack.

Shuichi Gonda - Gonda is the most talented young goalkeeper in the country and one of the most promising prospects in East Asia. You'll certainly want to hold onto him to build for the future.

Yuta Nagatomo - Young fullback Nagatomo already finds himself featuring regularly in the national side. While capable of playing almost anywhere, Nagatomo's pace is best used attacking down the right wing.

JEF United
Media Prediction: 12th
Budget: 1.4-2.3 million

JEF United has long had one of the premier youth systems in all of Japanese football and have reaped the fruits of that system in winning back to back League Cups...the trick for the Yellow Dogs though has been holding on to the talent that they develop. If you're looking to do a root and branch in the J-League, JEF United is an excellent choice.

Key Players

Seiichiro Maki - Another great player developed by JEF's academy, Maki features regularly up front for the national team. A powerful target man, he can create chances both for himself and for his teammates.

Eddy Bosnar - Bosnar won't win many footraces but thats not what he's paid to do. What he's paid to do is win aerial challenges and be a professional, steadying force in the back and he does both of those things very well. He'll keep your 6 yard box free of pesky opposing headers.

Tatsuya Yazawa - When you have a target man the caliber of Maki its imperative to have wingers who can deliver the ball to him in space and Yazawa knows his role well. Yazawa specializes in shaking his defenders and putting the ball into the area so that his strike force can do damage.

Albirex Niigata
Media Prediction: 13th
Budget: 4.4-7 million

Albirex Niigata has had an interesting history from the very beginning as they're one of the few clubs in the J-League that were born from a local 11 instead of a corporate sponsored club. They hold true this tradition to this very day, drawing most of their substantial budget from gate receipts at Big Swan Stadium and their unique affiliation with Singapore League side Albirex FC Singapore. If you want to be a smaller club with a big bottom line, Albirex is your club.

Key Players

Kisho Yanno - The only Japanese international in the Albirex squad, Yanno is a powerful and towering target man with a continental reputation. An excellent strike partner for him would be...

Pedro Junior - The pacey and creative young Brazilian has formed a classic big/little partnership with Yanno in his first season with the club. Expect him to stay at the top of the J-League goal scoring leaderboard for years to come.

Gilton - Brazilian U-21 fullback Gilton is one of the most interesting prospects in the J-League. Unhappy with the training and opportunities available to him in Brazil he's made the move to Japan at a very young age in order to get back into the national team picture for Brazil.

Montedio Yamagata
Media Prediction: 14th
Budget: 1.3-2.3 million

Montedio Yamagata has their work cut out for them in their first season playing in J-League 1, as a smaller club involved in their first trip to the big time they'll be content with survival more than anything else. But all is not bleak for the Mountain Kings, they have a good core of players to build around and a small but loyal crowd...still, managing in Yamagata is a challenge best attempted by only the most determined managers.

Key Players

Yu Hasegawa - The U-21 striker is one of the tallest players in the J-League and that, coupled with his tremendous leaping ability, gives opposing defenders nightmares. Hasegawa uses his ability to get to balls that other players can't to power header after header into the back of the net.

Jaja - The young Cruzeiro striker may be just a loan at Yamagata for now but if Montedio can keep him happy they have a very favourable buyout fee in his loan deal. And given the class that he's capable of at any of five different positions, keeping Jaja happy should be high on any Montedio manager's priority list.

Byung-Suk Kim - Kim is not only valuable in his own right as a hard working center midfielder or striker, he also has added value as he's fluent in Portuguese from his time with Vitoria Setubal. This translating central mid can be the lynchpin of your club.

Cheers, walnuts, I agree wholeheartedly that Gamba and Urawa have the best talent...but I still expect Kashima to win the league because they don't have the mental letdowns that the other two big clubs have. They just grind out result after result.

No one can match Gamba's firepower except for Frontale on their best day though. Endo is an absolute machine.

re: [J-League Database] New Graphics update! J-League 1 Database completed! And J-League 1 Guide!

I haven't tested all of the permutations but geographically its all Japan to them, the clubs are all based in Japanese cities and the foreigner restriction works properly (there's no loophole where Koreans aren't foreign) so I would have to imagine that Inamoto or Nakamura will give you a home nation discount. Especially at the end of their careers.

Nakamura I've tested in particular and he's set to be VERY open to a move back to Yokohama. Not sure about the rest of Japan but if you find out, let everyone know since overseas Japanese national team players will be very attractive transfer targets.

Also, while we're talking about old Japanese players, I put something of an Easter egg in the database. He's not difficult to find so I'm sure that a lot of you will.

I'm fairly certain that its on 9.0.2 but I started this project so long ago that I can't remember precisely.

And the finances are set to try to capture the spirit of the Japanese salary cap as best as possible, squad wages are fairly low as is the amount that your board will give you.

I'm not exactly certain how this works on a Mac, to be honest. Hopefully someone else here can give you a hand with that, bonnie.

Also, don't forget to keep checking the front page for more exciting updates to the guide.

Just put them in the User/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager/graphics folder and then make sure that your in-game preferences are set to reload skin cache on confirm.

I'm still not sure why it doesn't work on the 9.0.1 patch though.

Then again, upgrading to 9.0.3 makes the game play much smoother anyway so there's no better time than now.

As for the player stats, I watch the occasional J-League match and I follow it pretty closely so I know more or less what player types all of the major players are. From there I just fit them in so that the league standard was low Championsip to low Prem which was probably extremely generous on my part.

Nice work on starting your first game as the Japanese Chelski.

I'm glad that you're getting on so well though, Uchida should be an excellent player for you and he can learn a lot from Yamada.

Buying reserve players, especially from JL2 and foreign based Japanese players is a good idea as well since the squads are a little thin to be sure...but I challenge you people to create hundreds of players from scratch.

Aye, Urawa had a bye until the knockout rounds as past champion under the old format. So just bide your time, jj.

And I think that you have a bye in the Nabisco Cup too along with Antlers but I could be mistaken.

Good tip, jj. Getting every Japanese eligible player is important with the foreigner restrictions. Loading up the MLS and Brazilian leagues are good ideas too. A lot of Brazilians have Japanese citizenship options.

The weird thing about J-League football is how many formations that they employ and how seriously they take positional flexibility so I'm glad that its reflecting real life. Clearly they didn't get the memo about keeping the same tactic all season to increase squad performance.

And don't forget to keep checking back on the first page to follow along with the guide. We're up to 9 clubs now, only five more JL1 clubs to go, and there are some useful player recommendations in there.

No, thats a K-League only thing but I decided to tolerate it because there aren't any other Asian competitions without bottom tier relegation. So its not perfectly realistic but at least its interesting.

I'm going to be getting started with a game next week most likely with Grampus or JEF...I'm going on mini-holiday for the weekend though so I'm making finishing the guide a priority before I leave.

Nice start, WF, only conceding one goal. Of course your team is ridiculous.

I think that a lot of people are going to enjoy managing in the J-League because the academy system in Japan is going to produce a lot of very talented regens.

And Bosnar bounced around to Croatia and then had a good run in Holland before moving on to Japan. He really hasn't had a bad career at all compared to what I expected from him, huzzer.

I remembered his brief time at Everton for some reason because he was so tall so I was happy to see him turn up at JEF.

JEF happen to be the next club for the guide so everyone can expect a screenshot of Mr Bosnar shortly on the first page. You know, in case you want to build an army of Australians. Because I know how you Aussies are.

With Velaphi in goal you can at least send four Aussies out there out of your first 11, thats not a bad ratio at all.

I'm going to take a break from the guide for the rest of the day so those of you who were waiting patiently for Albirex or Montedio will have to check back tomorrow. And I strongly advise you to since those two clubs have some good players that you may be interested in poaching if nothing else.

In return for my laziness though I give you this, its the final kit missing from JL1, Montedio Yamagata. Dec finished it up today so you may as well download it to complete your set. Montedio kit

Mauricio is class so you're right, you have to play him.

Alex is rubbish though, I'd give him away for nothing and bring in more Aussies.

Had time to finish the guide while I was waiting for the girlfriend to get ready to go out.

All of you Albirex and Montedio fans can thank her instead of me...I'll probably put up guides to a few JL2 clubs in a future post but for now just refer to the first page for all of your J-League walkthrough needs.

re: [J-League Database] New Graphics update! J-League 1 Database completed! And J-League 1 Guide!

I leave for a couple of days and my thread dies so I'm going to bump it since I started a game with Gamba this morning while everyone else is asleep.

I missed out on Kagawa (Seoul), Nagatomo (Antlers), Araiba (Urawa), and Mu Kanazaki (Jubilo) so the transfer market hasn't been particularly kind to me but I have managed to bring in a few decent frees like Trabelsi and Sandro Hiroshi and I splashed the cash on Taniguchi.

Most importantly I've managed to extend Endo and Myojin and keep the vultures away from them for the time being.

My largest project has been upgrading my coaching staff and I'm extremely pleased with the results.

So this is how I'm going to be deployed to start the season...the emphasis is really going to be allowing Endo to dominate the ball and make things happen.

Just finished my season opener away at S-Pulse and I picked up a comfortable 3-1 victory that could've been much worse. Endo scored a brace and Taniguchi added 1 in his debut even though he missed two open nets. Grampus did me a favour as well by picking up a 1-0 win at Antlers.

re: [J-League Database] New Graphics update! J-League 1 Database completed! And J-League 1 Guide!

Hosogai was an oversight on my part but its pretty difficult to get everyone, especially younger players that I have barely seen in action. Too, I could've spent all of my time on Urawa and Antlers and Gamba because of their talent but that would've left clubs like Albirex and Sanga more sparse than they already are.

This isn't the ideal database for the in-depth and rapid J-League supporter, I don't have the time to complete that and there are other games for that, but what it is is a nice little database for people who want to have a go in the J-League.

I would think that the fact that everyone is playable, all of the cups, fixtures and quals work, and there is a complete graphics pack would be enough to keep everyone happy.

I know! I'm such a bloody disgrace.

That said, in a couple of weeks I'll probably put an update out as the Japanese season moves along so I'll have Hosogai on there then, at least.

Been away all weekend until an hour or so ago but I did sneak in a quick preseason with Gamba while everyone else was eating breakfast yesterday.

I have a big SOMS coming this week hopefully based on it though so I'm going to get a real season started tonight. Now if I only knew who I wanted to be.

Typically I'm happy to stay off in my own corner making databases but I thought that I'd give a good SOMS a go since I don't care to see the inside of the editor again anytime soon.

Figured that there'd be no better way to jump in than a good J-League game, plus I might drum up a little interest in my database besides.

re: [J-League Database] New Graphics update! J-League 1 Database completed! And J-League 1 Guide!

The regens coming through are Japanese and I've seen some pretty good ones but one quirk that I have noticed with scouting is that you have to send your scout to "South Korea" to scout the J-League.

I'm a little disappointed in myself on that one.

re: [J-League Database] New Graphics update! J-League 1 Database completed! And J-League 1 Guide!

For all of you J-Leaguers out there I have good news...a new graphics update for JL2 has been completed.

Contained inside are Dec's original kits for the remaining J-League clubs that weren't on the first update and as an added bonus there's a tiny facepack update in there as well.

If anyone wants to make more facepacks for the big stars though I'd be much obliged.

J-League graphics pack 2

As for the database, I've gotten back to work and by the end of the month every club should be completed and happily playable.

I've spent some time while I was sick poking around my J-League database and cleaning up as many of the Korea/Japan conflicts as possible.

There's also been a huge player update and all of the awards have had their names and histories straightened away as well.

I'm going to release a final version shortly with a few more players and more staff but if anyone wants the beta for the newly expanded database its here

re: [J-League Database] New Graphics update! J-League 1 Database completed! And J-League 1 Guide!

Thats always the catch, is the making of everyone from scratch. Just getting the comp to play without crash dumps its tricky enough and by the time that you're talking comp and player histories and any amount of research into actually watching the players it starts to be a massive time drain.

I figure that I'm probably in for near 70+ hours of work time on the project just to get what you see now.

So here's a question for next year's version...is it better to put more players in the database or is it better to have realistic ratings and complete player histories? I'm going with option two this year because I'm a completist like that but I could make a lot more players if I did what I've seen other people do...namely, just put in names, PAs, CAs, and leave everything else blank.

re: [J-League Database] New Graphics update! J-League 1 Database completed! And J-League 1 Guide!

Thanks for the input while I was on "holiday".

I'm going to scrap the player histories for next year's version so that I can get more players in and I've already started working on the database (via spreadsheet obviously!) so that I can have it out earlier next season.

I'm going to keep trying to scout everyone and put in realistic stats though so any playing style recommendations are welcome.

re: [J-League Database] New Graphics update! J-League 1 Database completed! And J-League 1 Guide!

Hey, using the Konami game is a good idea. Cheers for that. I just found a site that is really going to help.

I finished up my last version a couple of weeks ago...its still not as complete as I would like but once I heard about the new features for 2010 I decided to just wait until the new game came out rather than keep fighting this one. The new league swapping features should make everything so much easier, I'll probably have the first update done by the new year instead of fighting crash dumps for months at a time.

Here is the link for my last version for this year.

If anyone hasn't given it a go yet and wants to I highly recommend Albirex (Gilton is devastating) or JEF (great youth setup)...unless you want to just destroy everyone, then go with Urawa or Antlers.

re: [J-League Database] New Graphics update! J-League 1 Database completed! And J-League 1 Guide!

Its a Pro Evo player database, its not complete but it will help...combine that with good old wikipedia, season stats, and what few matches I do get to watch and I think that next year's ratings should be pretty good.

Plus the teams will be much deeper.

re: [J-League Database] New Graphics update! J-League 1 Database completed! And J-League 1 Guide!

You'll have to make some shrewd purchases as the clubs are a little thin...there are some good young players on Cerezo Osaka and Holly Hock in JL2 that you might want to take a look at, especially Shinji Kagawa. In fact, raiding the 2nd division is just a good plan since Kobe, Reysol and Ardija also have good players for cheap.

Other than that just take a look at the guide on the first page.

Thats odd...I'd double check to make sure that everything ended up in the proper place because the config files should be fine.

I'm glad that you're enjoying it so far...although not enough to keep you from playing PS3.
