Going solo

So, that is the question. Is it possible to enjoy the game, or go any further, going solo?. And in the case of an affirmative answer, wich one is the best way to multiclass your guy?, shall I be human or something else?... I think I read something about that in this forum, but can´t find it now... or what about a two character combo wizard/warrior?. Kinda Gauntlet...

re: Going solo

Indeed, it is practically impossible to go solo in the game. But If you do, you should have the following ratio while leveling up:

Cleric 5, Barbarian 4, Mage 1.
Going solo, you will almost always be sustaining mega damage, so you MUST heal yourself. Barbarians have a larger HP increment than any other class, and you need all the HP you can get. You only need one level in mage, because that will allow you to use EVERY scroll, which is half of magehood anyway. It's Imperative that you have Massive Stats in every category besides Charisma. you need intelligence for lock picking skills, wisdom for healing, dexterity for armor class, and constitution for xtra HP.
If you have your heart set on solo, I suggest you even the scores via cheating by starting out with a hefty stat bonus. You deserve it, trust me.

re: Going solo

Actually, I laready started with it, and I am a 4 level warrior even before to start with the errands at the Palisade. I was planning anohter level of warrior and then turn to mage for a few ones, or maybe just one as you said, and then rogue, for the sneak attack and all the good nice huge damage they get one they satb someone from behind. Didn´t think about the cleric, though... about cheating... I have to confess that I´m quite an ignorant about how to do it... what is it when people talk about "remove an experience cap" and stuff like that?

re: Going solo

Well, you have to cheat in the beginning for extra stats, but at this point, just wait until you have to cheat

re: Going solo

Complete the game once, then With the high level Character, Import him into a new game. He should be powerful enough (If he is at lvl 15+) to take on most enemies.

Also, make sure he has the ability to fight and Cast spells, like a Fighter/Druid.

re: Going solo

Ok, i must admit i did cheat alot to create this character but it was one very fun character to play with. Playing the game, my monk (of the broken ones) reached 21st level around the time when i got to ......the mind flayers (i think). Making him practically invulnerable.....and then multiclassed him to cleric of illmater. This gave him the ability to cast such spells as "Harm" and "Destruction". Along with his quivering palm....... very fun to play with.

re: Going solo

I'm well into chapter 1 with my solo Sorceress, no cheating, starting from level 1. She's about level 9 or 10 now. It's challenging, but possible. I wonder how long it will be before it becomes impossible...

re: Going solo

I actually found it pretty easy to solo the game with a Druid. She's the perfect candidate too : powerful healing spells, powerful offensive spells, the ability to wear armor, and the ability to wield weapons semi-effectively. Make sure you pick a "superior" race because since you'll be getting all the experience the level adjustment doesn't really affect you.

re: Going solo

Indeed, I tried solo with a druid and so far i found the game LESS challenging than with 6 member party. Im curently at mind flayers and still havent encountered a single tough obstacle in game. Spell combos rock... barkskin is prolly best druid spell overall, entangle great at start vs goblins and weaker troops. Summon spells are great too since you get them earlier than usual thus making your creeps extremely strong. later in game fire resistance + flame strike clears hordes pretty easy.

re: Going solo

I soloed once but gave up at the part where Oswald crashed the ship in the middle of no-man's land. Soloing is hard.. and this was before I realised the importance of multiclassing

re: Going solo

Soloing is impossible for me...although back when I used to paly this game alot I beat it with two characters...

I had my main char that was a tank and damage absorber and support healer, then my secondary char was a mage pure damage dealer/buffer.
