RA2 - Why it's a Legend.

Why is RA2 so special?
Why is it that even with all of these latest 3D, mega realistic new games that are coming out everyday do so many of us still play on RA2?


We all have our different views and points but for me, it's the simplicity of the games layout and the way the game was constructed with the Player in mind.

Everything is struck out in front of you when your in the game. It's hard to put into words and the explain but if you take a look at RA2's design, and the way everything is set out and designed then take a look at C&C 3's construction for example, you can see the diffrence.
Not that i'm trying to attack C&C 3 but you must agree it's alot more complicated and requires much more management.


Overall, the true greatness that you have to admire out of this is that even after what, 8 years? RA2 is still alive.

We all know that it won't last forever. We aren't still going to be playing the game into the 2100's or anything stupid, but the game has outlasted so many others life span by a long shot.

Red Alert 2 is truly a great game!

As For me, well since the very beginning of Red Alert, I'm already like it, its weapons, game play, well inspired me soooo much, far before i watched another "revelation" movie the Martian Successor Nadesico.
RA-2 is also easy to modify, allowing me to make my wild dream of Laser tank come true

I am forgetfull, I forgot to mention the game is also to modify.
Whilst todays new games come out are getting increasingly harder for your 'average gamer' to mod or change.

Red Alert 2 is also an exception here.

Whats deff part of it is the combination of an rts with a almost comical sci fi arangement of weapons and circumstances. Everything from Squids, to chronospheres, to mind control, all of which are far beyond current military arsenals, but were easily invented in a cold war era war.
alot of games try to be real, ra2 is fun, really really fun. I dont want realistic warfare, i want to take over my enemie's minds while cloning troops, and using giant towers shooting bolts of lightning, and so on.
