To Import Or To Wait

Well Demon's Souls has been released for around a week and a bit in the US and I'm really wondering whether I should wait for them to announce the EU version of the game, or just import it. Thing is, the only option for me to Import is ebay.co.uk, which is all fine and well.... but if I want to order it I'd have to shell out a mean £60 compared to the £40 I'd have to give out if it is released here (Though it's the Special Edition Pack so has quite a few extras).

So I'm thinking, I've currently got Cross Edge which being a completionist, I want to get all the Trophies for (and truth be told, I really did enjoy playing it the first time through, and so want to play it through again at a slower pace anyway). Apart from that I've also got Disgaea 3, which is sitting currently, unopened on my shelf, however I do have all the DLC (still need to download it, just been paid for), but for that I was thinking of waiting a while anyway, since Trophies are some time to release, and whilst the Trophies are somewhat retroactive with saves, I'm thinking that I'll probably play that game when there's a draught of good games.

That said, there's only one other game upcoming that I'm interested in and that's Ratchet and Clank Future: Crack In Time, but even then, I don't know when that'll be releasing in the UK...

So I'm just wondering whether I should wait for DS to be announced and released in the UK and buy it for £40 or just get it now for the whooping price of £60 (which is roughly 90 USD+).

Another alternative is to import DS now for the £40 and free shipping at yesasia.com. No deluxe edition though.

re: To Import Or To Wait

That's definitely a tough decision. I can relate a bit. I waited to get Persona 3 for too long and the only way to get it was through e-bay. By then the price was up to ~$80. I picked it up, and not even a week later they announced the FES version being released the following month.

So, after that lesson I would import it. If nothing else, to ensure you get a copy. I have no doubt this will become a rare title in the coming months, and with no word on whether it will even release in the UK it might be best to secure it while you can.

I say import. Why would you want to miss out on all the demon hunting glory a moment more? And as was said earlier, just go for the regular and save the money. Who needs a guide when you have neoseeker.

re: To Import Or To Wait

Hey Krunal. We usually have pretty similar tastes in games right down to Dynasty Warriors. And with that in mind, I'm telling you that this is one of the greatest games I've ever played. I've always hated the God of War, Devil May Cry, etc... games because they were so damn simple. You just run through swinging your sword. What I did like about those games (at least watching them) was how cool the attack movements and enemies looked. This game is a combination of the sheer awesomeness of these types of action/RPGers with the added difficulty and dark tone that only Atlus can create.

My brother and I are playing the game at the same time - he's a mage and I'm an attacker - and its basically two different games and it seems completely balanced so far.

Persona 4 is still my all time favorite game. But this is definitely the best blend of RPG and action out there to date. No questions asked. It brings back the gritty "game" feel of old school games but combines it with the graphics and experience of newer games.

Just import it ASAP. Play it ASAP. You won't regret spending the extra money.

re: To Import Or To Wait

I live in the UK and just bought the import version from ebay for £40. The import version is in full english, except the manual is in chinese and so is the back of the box.

I've been playing it since saturday and it is amazing, yes its hard but if you get stuck just train train and train some more to get your level up

Krunal was referring to the North America version though. Glad you picked it up Kazad, and welcome to the addiction!

I take it you're not in the UK, if you were you'd have realised that no site other than Ebay import Sony Games to UK due to the whole fiasco that caused one of the importer companies to have to declare bankruptcy. In short, you cannot import DS from Yesasia, PlayAsia or any other SECURE site with the exception of ebay, which fortunately doesn't follow suit.

I definitely will use Neoseeker, but I don't know, the Deluxe Edition just has this attaction to me, that I know not...

I've no doubt in my mind that I'll like it... but it's just whether I should wait or if they'll announce the UK version as soon as I import it or something...

Yeah, see... I don't want the Korean Version, I've known about the Korean version for a while, I want the English version, so I can play against my friends who have the same version... as far as I know the Korean version and English version are on separate servers...

Has anyone here got the Deluxe Edition, and can you tell me if the extra money was worth getting the Guide and the other Extras?

There are plenty of sites with the information in it...but the guide is excellent! The only beef I have with the damn thing is the spine is already wearing off, and I've been extremely careful with it!! I guess the oil from my hands are removing the ink.

The art book and CD were available only if you pre-ordered. Both are of excellent quality, and I enjoy them. However, they aren't necessary as I play so much I don't really use them too much.

If I had to do it all over again, I would still get the deluxe edition.

re: To Import Or To Wait

I feel like half the fun of this game would be gone with a guide. If you plan on getting it, only do so once you've logged in like 50-70 hours and died plenty of times.

And my comment about how good it was was meant to be more along the lines of: "It's so good you have to import it."

re: To Import Or To Wait

Well I guess I've got little to no choice now... I'll be importing the Deluxe version of the game (I can't actually find the non-deluxe version that's at a good pricing point).

RenChii are unfortunately expensive, and I've heard they do deliver to the UK, but I'd rather get it offebay for £5 off.... so thanks for the one that suggested it to me via PM...

Looking forward to meeting you guys online in a week or two's time.
