My Personal PVP Guide |
|
I've been playing Demon's Souls for quite sometime and if there is one thing I enjoy more then anything in this game, is PVPing. Now I'd like to think I've gotten pretty good at PVPing winning about 90% of my invasions/killing invaders. So I thought I would make a guide for those that have trouble winning or killing invaders. So I'm going to list a couple steps I go through to insure myself a victory when PVPing.
Vantage Points: I know a lot of players may feel that fighting your opponent head on is the "manly" way to do things. People seem to forget that this game is in third person. You can see behind walls, if the right position is taken. Use this to your full advantage. I can't explain to you how many times i've caught people naping with God's Wrath as they run right towards the heart of the blast as I stick behind a wall!! Be Observant Make sure you see your opponent before you blindly go out and attack. If hes wearing a Monks hat, get your anti-magic ready. If your lookin at someone with the Meat Cleaver, have Warding ready. Anti-Magic: Im sure a lot of you have guessed that Mages pack a punch (the good ones that is). Anti-magic has gotten me out of so many jams by using this spell, then running at them head on as they try to get there weapons set up. It surprises me how many Magicians are unprepared for that specific spell. This is a must have miracle!! Warding This ones pretty obvious. If your facing a heavy hitter, warding will keep you a live as they use their high powered attack weapons such as the Meat Cleaver and the Bone Smasher. This along with Anti-Magic are both must haves!! Roll Screw wearing that heavy brushwood armor. Its not worth it. Rolling will get you out of the biggest jams against those slow powered weapons. Its quite easy to roll past your opponent when there using anything slow and stabbing them in the back for the easy kill. Unpredictable: Using the Northern Reg. may seem like an obvious choice but since the weapon itself is so overused and slow its very easy to roll behind someone and stab them in the back. Use a weapon that's suited to your stats and can strike fast. High powered weapons may seem fun but unless there gonna get the job done in 1 or 2 hits, its definitely not worth it IMO. Thief Ring, Graverobber Ring: It may only impair the invaders vision slightly but maybe that's all you need to get that first attack in that finishes the job(graverobber ring if your being invaded, thief ring if your invading) Foes Ring If your invading I strongly suggest you equip this ring if you have it. Your attack will increase quite a bit. Don't Be A Hero if your finding that your invading and you are completely outmatched or outnumbered, it's time to outsmart the bastard! Use the enemy surroundings to help with your attack. This works especially well in levels like 4-1, 4-2, 1-3, and 1-4. Poison Plague is also a great spell but poison will keep the bastard from healing as you slowly deteriorate there health. Pick an arena the fits your weapon For example, if you like using spears or short blades, then stick to the narrowest places you can find. Big weapons are hampered by confined spaces. Learn how to break turtles Some weapons naturally ignore even the best shields totally or partially (Blind, Moonlight Sword, Shotels). Also, many weapons have a "push" move you can do by pressing up+R1. This move may not do damage, but it disrupts you opponent's shield and staggers them. It can also be used to push people off ledges. Come Prepared Be prepared that your first weapon may do very little damage to your opponent. Have a second weapon as an alternate ready. You never know what can go down! Be Wise With Your Soul Points If you plan on being a major PVP competitor, be prepared to level a specific stat to 99 such as Faith, Dex, Str, Or Magic. It will help in raising the attack of a stat based weapon. Vitality and Endurance should be your secondary stats. If I forgot something which I clearly may have, simply post on this thread and I will do my best to add the logical ideas. I hope this has helped you guys in anyway and happy invading This message was edited by candian75 on Nov 27 2009. This message was edited by candian75 on Nov 28 2009.

Just a couple things I thought of:

Learn how to break turtles Some weapons naturally ignore even the best shields totally or partially (Blind, Moonlight Sword, Shotels). quote GeigerI like your first one. Your second one only applys to people with high Dex and high Faith. So I think that's a little to specific. I kinda want to stick with the broad majority of Demons Souls Players and I believe no matter what weapon you have, you can always push people. I Think, not sure This message was edited by candian75 on Nov 27 2009.

This is actually very good. Pros on you candian75, if you don't mind post this in the wiki as well.
If I remember something to add well I will post it, but so far this is very solid. ------------------- P/D: 2492 8428 2506

re: My Personal PVP Guide |
quote candian75It's not as specefic as you might think. Sure Blind and Moonlight do require high dex/faith, but shotels don't. They are curved swords, and can be upgraded just like any curved sword. So, if you're magic based, make a crescent shotel. Also, you can make a mercury shotel as an alternate weapon, and then use it to poison your opponent. Think about it, there are 4 damage based stats (str, dex, faith, magic). Str users can break turtles with big stamina-draining weapons, but you suggest people use "fast" weapons. So, those people will most likely use dex, faith, or magic based weapons. Also, if you like to turtle, it's good to know what to be on the lookout for.
