Amazing review, though I would disagree about adding an online co-op play. If they were going to include online, there should be a 24-player battle royale, or something actually worth implementing online for.

It doesn't seem like there is anything we didn't already know. No nice surprises then I guess.

re: Neoseeker reviews Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires

In any case, appreciate the review. These days game review sites are lagging behind with reviews - rarely can I find a review for something well-written and clear enough on major points of interest before the game is released, or on the day of release. Usually have to scope pooled user reviews, and bias seems to follow a series like this one pretty often.

Edit: Finished read through

WTF!? Giant boomerang girl isn't in the game!?
(anticipates DLC)

WTF!? Ma Chao's got a friggin' sword now!?
(anticipates fury, wrath, and great depression 2.5)

WTF!? Meng Huo's taken on Jared Fogle?!
(anticipates new Subway ad campaign)

Well, character train wrecks and redemptions aside, looks like the Empires gameplay hasn't changed much. Still isn't Kingdom Under Fire, but at least they haven't mucked it up much. If Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 is any sign, DW6E's DLC might also be free. Might actually pick this one up today. I need my CAW fix. Not enough CAW features in today's games.

re: Neoseeker reviews Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires

I'm sorry Mr Gray. I didn't mean to sound ungrateful :[
Those people at the Koei GF lied! They said the cut characters were coming back!!!
And yeah, I miss CAW. I was hoping it would be a tiny bit more detailed, but at 1 point I was afraid it would be the same as DW5E, so I guess it's still a big improvement.
Personally I don't think anything beats the SoulCalibur III CAW, unless I haven't played it.

re: Neoseeker reviews Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires

Hells yeah about SCIII CAW.

I rented SCIV thinking that there'd be a new Chronicles of the Sword mode, and even better CAW features, then realized Namco SUCKS (I keep forgetting that). Releasing store DLC the same day the game releases = garbage publisher. Tossed the game back in gamefly circulation, got off my arse, went to gamestop and purchased Soul Calibur 3. Was happy again. From the brief CAW vids we've seen of Empires, looks like there's at least 20 sets of characters, and Jebus knows how many weapons sets.

If they had stated that cut characters were returning though, i'd imagine they would be pay-for DLC at some point. (If they make that 'free' i'd be surprised).

If they do release new characters though, I want them interacting in cutscenes and the like, even if there are few in the Empires series.

re: Neoseeker reviews Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires

Yeah, Chronicles of the sword for that stupid tower thing. Ecen the story sucked! And why the CaW in IV was worse than III, I'll never understand. But back on topic...

Yes, the CaW is looking very nice. Hopefully Koei don't ruin it in any future games. Which reminds me, can you only get main character weapons, or can you use generic officer weapons too?

DLC characters will most likely cost, and I have a bad feeling they'll be pricey. It's not the fact that they probably won't be free that bothers me. Just that they don't sell psn cards in Europe.
I think Canada got them recently, so hopefully someday...

Well, I did review the game.
Some front page news today confirmed DLC for July.
Original press release didn't reveal whether it would be free or not, so I had to email them about it.

Anyone who is interested, this is the press release about DW6 Empires launching in North America.
It also confirms Edit Mode and BGM DLC in July, which will be free.

Hmm... I'll probably be on holiday when this comes out. Hopefully it's not a limited time thing.

Thanks RC'! :3

Currently messing with the CAW mode. So far it seems you can only use main general weapons as per usual, and it would seem they switched some of the weapons around again. (Think Ms. Ying had a bow&arrow last time, has some Assassin's Creed shank now) I'm noticing some characters are still MIA too. (One of the Qiao sisters, Boomerang Girl, and many weapon changes are new to me as i've not played standard DW6)

Seems that, so far, female CAWS get the better hair options. Males seem to stick with joke hair designs (at least I hope they were aiming for 'HA-HA!', and not'~Tee~hee~hee')

Seems like the allowance for maximum CAWS is (wait for it...)

100 CAW characters.

Definitely not enough CAW parts to recycle, but some designs can be used (like generic ninja/samurai) to spam your own personal militia.

*Edit - spams a horde of shank/bow characters.
