Pretty sure there are interviews with the developers/whoever where they mention going MMO was perfect instead of a third installment in the series cause it's almost like a "KOTOR III, IV....VIII etc".

But even then going back and doing a regular KOTOR III would be great and there is nothing stopping them. Although an issue I have is this: Where is the storyline behind KOTOR III going to come from? It will have to be something that the MMO doesn't tell us. cause I want to know about Revan/Exile in the Unknown Regions in the MMO.

Heck, the MMO is set 300 years into the future, so maybe they plan on revealing parts of what happened, but still release a KOTOR III? It's a good idea I didn't think of.

No, I think the choice to set it in the KOTOR timeline has to do with marketing more than anything. Also due to it being Bioware they wanted to do something different then what Galaxies did, which was set it in the established timeline. This way they have more creative control over the product as a whole. I wouldn't doubt that there could be a KOTOR 3 in the future, as the second one did leave off for something epic that Bioware could pick up if they wanted. Only time will tell.

People are upset because woth the announcement of Knights game which isn't 3, the chances of there being a 3, especially any time even remotely soon, go down dramatically. You said it yourself, the chances are slim, and if they mess up the MMO, they might not go back and add a 3rd installment.

If they didn't try to fix something that wasn't broke we'd probably have already completed KotOR 3, everyone's just worried it was a huge waste of time that could be spent on something we know would be good, instead of trying to take over some of WoW's market dominance like everyone else who's tried and failed.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very willing to give SW:TOR a chance, even as an avid WoW player, but for every reason I have faith in it to be good I have a doubt about the gameplay.

Also, RPG's are Bioware's bread and butter. They are currently working on two other games (both single player RPG's) set in their own worlds. If anything they might not want to return to the KOTOR verse (as opposed to the current OLD republic set game) and instead opt to go on making their own IP's. It seems more likely to me that they wouldn't want the hassle of working within the shackles of some other person's world. I think this really started with them making working on Jade Empire rather then the second KOTOR game. Also if that is any indication they never wanted to make another KOTOR game.

kotor one was the greatest game ive ever played and i am a first person shooter guy but i spent more time on that game than any other i beat it in almost every different way and i am for one excited about the mmo a never ending star wars game i mean come on if they make it just as good or even a little worse than the first game it will still be great

Actually I read an article recently (can't for the LIFE of me find it now though) where Obsidian said they'd love to make KOTOR 3 while BioWare are making TOR. It's all down to LucasArts though. If they want it made then Obsidian are happy to step up and make it.

I'd imagine they'll just focus on TOR though.
