Hear ye, hear ye!

Ladies and Gentlemen!

I am very, very pleased to be able to present you for the very first time in the history of Neoseeker: Neoseeker's Story of the Month!

On the FM2007 and FM2008 forums, there have always been good celebrations with the well known Story of the Week competition. This year, we're going to alter things slightly. Instead of of a weekly story, we're going to have a monthly story. This way, at the end of the year, we will have a truly great Hall of Fame containing the greatest of stories, chosen by yourselves! Chosen by ourselves? Yes, because this year, the forum members will be voting. Ok, wait already, I'm getting confused. Can't you just list how things will be run this year?

Yes, I certainly can and in the list below I will describe the process of Story of the Month to you, it works like this:

• Every month, from the 1^st until the 25^th the Story forum moderators will be closely watching the stories. On the 25^th day of the month they will release the nominees for that month's story. A minimum of three stories and a maximum of 5 stories will be nominated. You can read which Stories will be nominated here.
  
  
• Then, the members have until the end of the month to vote. You can vote by sending one of the Story Forum mods a PM. PM ViNCeNZo. PM The Believer, PM Dynamic.
  
  
• You are only allowed to vote once, extra votes coming from alternate accounts will not be counted towards the total. Guest accounts are not allowed to take part at all in the voting. Also, you cannot vote for your own story!
  
  
• On the 1^st day of the new month the Story Forum moderators will announce the new Story of the Month. You can view the list of winning stories here.
  
  
• Winning stories will be rewarded with the "sticky" status for a month, as well as an honorable announcement as thread caption, and last but not least: your story will be added to the forum header for a month!
  
  
• Stories from FM community moderators are excluded from partaking in this event.
  
  
• A story can only be voted Story of the Month once.
  
  
• The main factors that the mods will base their decisions on nominations on are: originality and layout. Decent use of markup is appealing for members to read, and you story having an interesting plot, or a nice way of reviewing achievements will greatly improve the chances of your story being chosen! Additionally, stories will have to have a certain age. A closed story is very unlikely to be nominated, for that matter.

When will the nominees be announced? or will we not have a SOTM for december?

I'd say later on in the month like 10 days before the 25th

The nominees will be announced on the 25^th normally. However this first time it's Christmas so we'll probably announce them before Christmas.

Messa, you're correct. It means that that January 2009 will see our first ever Story of the month up. The number of stories getting the award will be a lot smaller than last year, so only the best of the best stories will probably achieve a Story of the Month.

Burton's Neo Athletic gets my vote tbh... the only SOMS thats kept me interested....

but burton boy is a SOMS version of Tyson.
