I'm wondering what the bonus points actually do. At first I thought the points gave you extra gil at the end, but my cash doesn't change. Again, is this just a multiplayer feature?

You mean moogles point things, well they give stupid mini games that you can't play unless you have a gameboy and a gameboy gamcube connector!
