Him liking it's merely a plot mechanic, they probably didn't program in a response if you actually give it to him.

And you get a level one version of Tsukasa's character (not the real player, controlled by an AI, so don't expect any plot/dialogue) after beating Quarantine.

Yes, in the game Mia is the one looking for the Aromatic Grass.

And you also get some at the end of a Dungeon in Mutation; one of the protected area's... you have to bring Elk and Mia along with you.

But that is funny how Elk constatly is looking for it... and he didnt be all happy when you gave it to him.... It must have a low market value in the game... Because once you give characters Gift's that are useful and decently expensive to the character they act really happy. Elk freaks out the best that quite kid can... Goes on about how he doesn't recieve present's from people usually...
