I just heard on G4 that this may have been the best year for games ever. And when you think about it, that may be true. Look what came out, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Fallout 3, Gears 2, Left 4 Dead, Mario Kart Wii, Grand Theft Auto 4, Resistance 2, Little Big Planet, and many more. Do you think this was the best gaming year ever?

It's up there but much of the good games that came out this year were overrated.

2001-2002 I think was still the greatest year(s) ever. When GTA3, MGS2, Halo, FFX, GT3 came out I remember I thought nothing would ever top those games. Those year(s) brought the greatest new shit to gaming I've ever seen.

Just realized I left Metal Gear Solid 4 off my list.


Anyway, SSBB was definitely overrated. The build up was so great, and the game was so...lackluster.

MGS4 wasn't as great as I thought it would be. I actually though that game was better off a movie than a game. Lot so games this year were great but not all to spectacular.

I dunno any year that would beat 2001. 2001 was one of, if not the greatest year ever to happen to video games. Even though this year was indeed pretty innovative. 2001 brought the biggest innovations in gaming ever.

Yeah I think that this year was a good year for innovation, with like Tiki said Spore and Mirror's Edge. I think really this is the best Console generation ever, the most powerful fairly affordable, and multi faceted.

I think this year they were actually trying in games this time to make something solid and new. Because when you look at the years after 2001, it just feels like the good games we was were nothing but basking on the success of the original. And we get more and slightly improved(or degraded sometimes) version of the same.

Spore is a game I'm definitely going to have to try. Concept sounds good to me.

When does Mass Effect 2 come out? Presumably sometime in 2009?
