Everyone seems to be talking about the "swine flu" lately, both on neoseeker and in my school. If someone sneezes, someone inevitably yells out "omg swine flu". Are you guys afraid of contracting swine flu? I for one think people are blowing it way out of proportion. Much like the Bird Flu. A couple people got the ailment and everyone started freaking out about it. How many people have died from Swine Flu? 150? How many people die from the regular flu every year? Over 20,000. Influenza > Swine Flu. And yet nobody really cares about the flu. Someone at school gets the flu and we act like it's nothing out of the ordinary. Someone gets Swine Flu and the school gets shut down.

Probably the reason why people are freaking out more at swine flu over regular flu is the fact that there is a vaccine for Influenza. TBH, I'm not worried. I'm a strong, healthy man. If I got the flu I'm sure I can take it.

Well, the swine flu is a big deal because, being an animal born virus, we as humans have no natural defense against it. But influenza is something we can get vaccinated for. Honesly, I'm not worried about it either. If I get sick and die, I get sick and die. Obviously I'm not going to go around trying to get the Swine Flu, but I mean, I'm not gonna get overly cautious and wear a *bleep*ing hazmat suit.

EDIT: No, no one at my school is freaking out either, and no my school isn't shut down. lol.

The Swine Flu has become the biggest joke in my school. I think it's like that everywhere... except for poor Mexico. But yeah, this disease has brought on a lot of humor.

I couldn't care less. I hope I don't offend Americans but it seems, from my observation, that Americans freak out about everything. It's almost like they are not comfortable unless they are paranoid or worried about something. You'll be fine.

I think I'm gonna go and start sneezing on people at Walmart just to get a rise out of them.

I agree but I think it's only some of us. I'm going to wear a surgical mask to school just to mock the idiots that think this whole thing is serious. I might even decorate it with a mustache.

When I go to Hawaii this weekend, we're going to be forced to wear masks on the plane.

All day on the news it's been conspiracy theories and people with 'evidence' that swine flu is already running rampant through America and it (quote) "Is not going to get better any time soon". These losers are just being sensationalists to get traffic on their tv station and clicks on their website.
