Reviving the good ol' Halo Social forum |
|
Well, Daddy's back! After having a good 6 months or so to adjust myself to college and all that jazz, I'm back and it looks like you're stuck with me. DBZ is still the section mod, so if anyone ever needs him if I'm not on and there is some epidemic going on, feel free to bother him
The Halo Social forum has been progressively declining in activity for a while now, and I think it would be a good idea for us to get it up and running again. It still has a lot of potential and we used to have a lot of fun in here. I'm curious to know what kinds of things you guys like. We could try some more serious topics, maybe borrow the "weekly debate topic" idea or a spin off of the concept that's been floating around. We still need the 2009 Halo Social forum awards before, well, the end of 2009. We could potentially do those in the near future to kick start the forum back up and then proceed to discussions again. Any other ideas are welcomed and encouraged ------------------- ![]()

Less arguing. More boobs.
On a more serious note, maybe some game threads? -------------------

Congrats DP. Game threads, well not too much and it'd be fine. Game threads only work short-term for a forum, what you could need is some interesting threads - well that debate thread sounds good, you just gotta hope the momentum picks up along with it. To reshape that HS community, cause building one will have to take some work. ------------------- ![]() ![]()

I dunno, we've just kinda ran out of shit to talk about. We could try debates, but that probably won't work out so well.

I think Halo Social Survivor is still going on, or it's supposed to. We all just ditched the thread.

HS3.
If we're going to do debates, we need to do it differently than it normally is done. It needs to be some kind of contest. ------------------- Honor through shame. ![]() Former Rome

Turn based debates, each win grants you 10 experience points.

Eh, those can be pretty hard to find.
We should do like a kind of Congress where people debate a "law" and then vote on it. Obviously, the winner gets his law passed, and it would go down in record as one of the forum's "laws". You never know, it might invite more intellectual people, and it's something everyone could have a role in. I mean, in the end, it's not winning the debate that matters to people because most people don't change their minds very easily on debates. And of course, people would get points for every law they get passed, then everyone could compete to be the best congressman. Anyway, just what I got from the top of my head. ------------------- Honor through shame. ![]() Former Rome

What kinds of "laws" would they make though? Hypothetical laws pertaining to the forum or hypothetical laws pertaining to whatever nationality people are?
