Veterans Day |
|
Happy Veterans day to all of those who served their countries in various wars. You are truly an inspiration and your heroism is greatly appreciated.
Do you know any veterans or anyone currently serving in the military? My grandpop served in WWII, he was part of the pacific battle. He was part of the force that stormed Okinawa, and he carried dynamite to throw into the enemy pillboxes. My girlfriend is in the US Navy, which is something I greatly admire. Quick question, am I supposed to wish those currently active in the military happy veterans day or only those who have served in wars, come back, and are no longer on active duty? That's one thing I've never been all too sure about. ------------------- ![]()

Two of my grandfathers were in World War II. One was in the Army and fought the Nazis. He won two Bronze Stars, I think, and the Distinguished Service Medal. The second was in the Pacific, and his ship was hit by a Japanese kamikaze.
My step-grandfather was in the Navy for 22 years and served in Korea and Vietnam. Happy Veterans Day to our veterans, indeed. ------------------- Honor through shame. ![]() Former Rome

My dad was a West Pointer but he never served in combat. I myself am currently an Officer Cadet in the US Army. I am the infantry, follow me.

I attended a little Veterans Day presentation after school yesterday. It was nothing special; however people had the opportunity to take the stand and say a few words. Surprisingly, many of the security staff are veterans of 13+ years. We also had a few Army and Marine recruits drop by.

My grandfather served as a tank operator. He even operated a tank that General Patton was in. He brought back this Nazi dagger, which I still have to this day.

Both grandfathers served in WW2. My mothers father was in the Pacific, he fought on Palilu* and he got shell shock from it. My other Grandfather was in the 8th Air force, he was a Master Technical Sargent and I have no idea what he did. My Great Uncle was in the OSS, and he never told anyone what he did. My mothers Brothers both served, one in the Marines during piece time, the other in the 101st Airborne during Vietnam. I have often thought about joining, but as of yet have not.

Great Grandfather served in WW1 which was it's main war recognized as Vet Day at first.
Since the last casualty was caused by a field officer when he charged the German Trenches and they tried to stop him since the war was like seconds from being over and his own mates tried to guide him back. But he didn't listen and the Germans fired 7-8 shots and one entered his temple and killed him instantly which was the last casualty of WW1. My Grandpa was served in the Army during WW2 and Korean War. My other Grandpa(Dad's dad) served in Vietnam and was POW & KOW. Aswell as 3 of my cousins serving now in the Coast Guard, Two in the Army one stationed in Germany and one stationed in Iraq. So I pretty much plan on being in the military since basically my whole family has served their dues.

No one of the soldiers in the company that held that trench.
My grandpa was trying to get him back to our trenches but he didn't listen he got demoted to a private before this happened because he would cuss out high ranking officers while he was a sergeant so he got demoted and thats what they said caused him to rush the trench. He rushed it with just a bayonet and his M19 Garand no ammo.
